Association of Child and Adolescent Counselors in Illinois (ACACI) Governing Council Report March 12, 2016

Activities

 We have changed our name to Association of Child and Adolescent Counselors in Illinois (ACACI).

 We are currently in the process of completing our Strategic Plan.

 We are continuing to send out information on our Twitter account at: IACAC@Children_Thrive and Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/36550452032.

 We are in the process of gathering information for our second electronic newsletter and would love to have your input. Our topic is “Superstars.” Is there someone who has impacted your life and is your Superstar? If you would like to submit an article about someone who has made a difference in your life please contact Peggy Mayfield at [email protected].

 On November 3, 2015 an Expressive Arts Therapy Training was held on the NEIU campus. It was co-hosted by the NEIU Chapter, ACACI, and the Center for Creative Arts Therapy. The workshop presented an overview of utilizing expressive arts therapy with clients. A number of students and counselors attended.

 On January 5, 2016 an Expressive Arts Therapy for Children Training was co-hosted on the NEIU campus by NEIU Chapter, ACACI Division, and the Center for Creative Arts Therapy. This experiential workshop presented innovative use of the arts in therapeutic work with children. A number of students and counselors attended.

 On March 1, 2016 a Drama Therapy for Trauma Survivors was co-hosted on the NEIU campus by the NEIU Chapter, ACACI, and the Center for Creative Arts Therapy. This workshop provided an exploration of expressive arts therapy within the internalized structure of PTSD. A number of students and counselors attended.

 On May 3, 2016 we are co-hosting “Healing Grief Through the Arts.” If you are interested in attending please contact Leslie Contos.
