The Summer Project is run by The Beck Theatre on behalf of the HQ Theatres Trust, Charity Registration Number: 1145989 Welcome to The Beck Theatre’s 32nd Annual Summer Project! Bring It On – The Musical
Following the huge success of last year’s Summer Project Sister Act we are looking for enthusiastic, committed and talented young people, aged 9 – 19, to take part in our next all-singing, all-dancing, musical extravaganza – Bring It On – The Musical.
Application Form Deadline: Fri 6 April 2018. Please fill in the application form and return along with a passport sized photo in advance of auditions.
We anticipate that auditions will be popular and due to the actual number of Project places available and time restrictions on audition day we may not be able to see anyone who misses the application form deadline or just turns up on the day. Also, subject to actual numbers we might need to stop taking application forms BEFORE the deadline so please send your application form in nice and early!
Audition Day: Sun 29 April 2018. PLEASE NOTE: there is a £10 audition fee – if you are successful in securing a place in the project then this £10 fee will be deducted from your final fees payment. If we do not offer you a place then the £10 fee will be refunded to you. If you are offered a place and decline or drop out then the £10 fee will not be refunded.
Please bring £10 in cash with you on audition day (we will give you a receipt) – if you do not bring the £10 fee then I’m afraid that you will not be allowed to audition. Exact start and finish times for each group will be advised nearer the time by letter and will be posted on our website becktheatre.org.uk
We will start in the morning with the youngest group (Boys and Girls 9 – 12s) and once everyone has been seen this group will then be free to leave. Girls 13 – 19s will be next and then Boys 13 – 19s. We are aiming to have seen everyone by early afternoon.
Call backs for lead roles and main dancers only will begin mid-afternoon. Final casting selections will be made after all auditionees have left. You will then be notified either by phone (depending on how quickly we can get through to everyone) or email whether you have been successful or not. Confirmation packs to all successful auditionees will be posted shortly after.
There are lead and supporting roles for girls and boys and further information will be sent out nearer to auditions.
Please wear comfortable clothes (no jeans) and suitable footwear and be prepared to sing and dance! You should also bring a packed lunch, plenty to drink and a book or something to do as there can be quite a bit of waiting around as we try to see everyone.
Please note: Only people auditioning will be allowed into the auditorium. Our Café Bar will be open for parents / friends wishing to wait.
The Summer Project is run by The Beck Theatre on behalf of the HQ Theatres Trust, Charity Registration Number: 1145989 Summer Project Fees: £150 each, £130 for each additional sibling (Fees include a Summer Project 2018 t-shirt)
If you are offered a place, then your £10 audition fee will be deducted from the project fees. Project fees should be paid in full by Mon 9 July 2018. We are happy to be paid in instalments and can discuss details and payment dates with you individually. The fee covers the two weeks of Project (it does not include any transport, meals or show tickets) and we may ask you to assist with some basic items for costumes such as t-shirts, shoes, etc – hopefully things that you already have at home.
Please note: once payment (or part-payment) has been made there are no refunds – you have committed to the Project and taken a place from another auditionee.
Summer Project: Sun 12 – Sat 25 August 2018. You must be available for all these days. Due to the short rehearsal and production time it is very important that you are fully committed to the Project for the whole period – for example, if you are on holiday and will miss the first couple of days of rehearsals them I’m afraid that you will not be able to take part.
If you have an important appointment that will be difficult to reschedule such as dentist or doctor then please let us know in advance so that we can plan for your absence.
Everyone should have a full day off on Sun 19 August along with some earlier finishes during the first week and later starts in the second. A full rehearsal schedule will be sent to project members in July.
Performances: Thu 23 August 7.30pm Fri 24 August 2.30pm & 7.30pm Sat 25 August 2.30pm & 7.30pm
