Parents Please Remember: -Write student’s name on all backpacks, lunch boxes, jackets, etc. -Call the school office by 8:30 A.M. if your child is absent from school. - The tardy bell rings at 7:45 each morning. Students arriving after that time are considered tardy. Please escort your child to the front office if arriving late to school. . Principal Notes from Mrs. Gibbs It is hard to believe that November is upon us! We are very thankful for every student, parent, community supporter, business partner, and faculty member of the Fulton Independent School. We are very pleased to announce that Carr Elementary has been named a High Progress School by the Kentucky Department of Education as a result of last year’s KPREP scores. Together we can accomplish great things!

Reminder: School will not be in session on November 3rd and 4th.

Please join us on November 11th in the Carr Elementary gymnasium to honor our nation’s veterans. We will conduct a Veterans Day program at 1:00 p.m. All veterans, parents, and community members are encouraged to attend.

Arts and Humanities: The dinner theatre is scheduled for November 21st and 22nd at Fulton High School. The Carr Elementary fourth and fifth grade performing arts team will present the first production of the evening. Tickets will go on sale soon. Please contact either Fulton High School at 270-472-1741 or Carr Elementary at 270-472-1637 for more information.

PLCS: The Great Body Shop curriculum has been implemented into grades K-5 to provide a coordinated school wide health, safety, and wellness program for our students. Each month students and teachers discuss age appropriate topics related to practical living and career studies. The topics for each month are as follows: September: Safety/Fitness October:Body Systems November: Nutrition December: Social Health January: Emotional Health February: Growth and Development March: Substance Use and Abuse April: Illness Prevention May: Environmental and Consumer Health Additional information can be found at http://www.thegreatbodyshop.net/.

Library Notes from Mrs. Parr It's time for the Scholastic Book Fair! I am excited to announce that the book fair at Carr will be held from November 17-21. Students will be allowed to bring money to school and shop in the mornings from 8:00-11:30. Don't forget, the book fair is a fantastic place to shop for Christmas! Look for more information to come home soon. Please encourage your child to read for at least 20 minutes every day, and don't forget about our AR challenge! As always, thank you for everything you do for our school!

Coach’s Corner Our 2nd annual Bulldog Bash will be held on this Saturday, November 1st. This is an all day basketball event that lets the Bulldog Nation get a chance to watch your Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs play in their first games. Please come out and support!! Bulldog Allstars will be getting started this month. Letters for parents will be sent home within the next week explaining all the details of this. Our basketball season has officially begun. Please check the website for a schedule and we hopefully will see everyone at the games!!

Student Council News Student council elections were held recently. Students in grades 2-5 voted for their favorite candidate. The members are: Gabriella Buckingham, president; Mia Hancock, vice president; Max Gibbs, secretary; and Linus Pulley, reporter/treasurer. Classes are collecting soda can pull tabs to raise money for St. Jude. At the end of the year, the class with the greatest weight in pull tabs will win a pizza party with the 5th Grade. – submitted by Linus Pulley, Reporter/Treasurer

Drama/Music Notes from Mrs. Butner We are collecting Box Tops for Education again this year. Remember to bring your Box Tops in and give them to Mrs. Butner. Place the student’s name on the back of each box top. We are also collecting Labels for Education. Please write the student’s name on the back of each label, too.

Family Connection News

Animal Tales All families are invited to attend an Animal Tales event on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. in the Carr gymnasium and then check out a Scholastic Reading Fair in the library. Come see unusual animals up close and learn all about them. This parent involvement event is sponsored by Title One. For more information call The Family Connection coordinator Tracy Pulley at 270/472-1637.

TFC Advisory Council All parents, grandparents and guardians are invited to attend The Family Connection advisory council meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. at Carr Elementary, room 201. Come learn about what TFC is doing and tell us what TFC can do for you. For more information call The Family Connection coordinator Tracy Pulley at 270/472-1637.

Grow! Festival All families with children ages 0-5 are invited to a Grow! Festival on Thursday, Nov. 6 from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. in the Carr gymnasium. Kids will have a blast at the petting zoo, tricycle rodeo, snack shack and kindergarten practice booths while parents will get valuable information about preparing kids for school. All children will go home with a new book and great educational items. Door prizes will be given away. The Grow! Festival is sponsored by the Four River Counties CECC (Community Early Childhood Council). For more information call The Family Connection coordinator Tracy Pulley at 270/472-1637.

Fall Festival appreciation Thank you to everyone who brought a cake or multiple cakes to the PTO Fall Festival. We ended up with 70 cakes / pies / cookies, and everyone had a great time trying to win a baked good. Krislynn Vaughn brought in the most cakes in the student competition; Jen Govern baked the most cakes in the parent competition.

WatchDOGS The Family Connection is still looking for local men who can volunteer in our school. You can do it once a semester, once a month, once a week, whatever fits your schedule. Help with morning drop off from 7:20-7:45 a.m. or lunch duty from 10:40 – 12:15 or one-on-one reading sessions throughout the school day. Call Tracy Pulley at 270/472-1637 for more information.
