Advanced Trade Policy Course 16 January - 10 March 2017

Tariffs, Schedules of Concessions and their modification and Market Access databases

Objectives:

Objective 1: After the module, participants should understand what a tariff is from a policy, legal and economic viewpoint and be able to differentiate it from other charges which may be charged at customs.

Objective 2: After the module, participants should be capable of autonomously reading a WTO Schedule of concessions and should understand the requirements for modifying tariff concessions therein.

Objective 3: Participants should acquire advanced skills in using the Market Access databases as source of information for tariff and trade negotiations and trade policy analysis and should have increased skills in interpreting the statistics available in the online tools and their trade implications.
