I am employed and I can mange my expenses, said 19 years old young girl. She along with younger brother, mother and father stayed in a small village Ramachandrapuram, Avvanigadda mandal, Krishna district which is around 69 kms away from Vijayawada. She has completed intermediate course and joined in Teacher training course. She was forced to get married by her family members to a physically challenged person. Three months of marriage was started punches from her husband. It has made the girl to return her maternal home. They have convinced her to back to her husband’s place. Finally the young girl was unable to stay at both the places, she moved to her grandfather’s house in Vijayawada. Her grandfather knows about Vasavya Mahila Mandali and requested the VMM management to provide shelter and skill development for a standard in life and also to get counseling and psychosocial support to get out of her big problem. She was referred to Vasavya Mahila Mandali, the counselor provided counseling as she has requested to shelter provision, and she was referred to Gora Abhay Nivas rehabilitation center for women victims.
At Vasavya Mahila Mandali, she was provided counseling to get out of her problem, and was referred for commercial tailoring training for three months and later she was referred to digital learning center, where training on soft skills, basic computers and work readiness skills along with spoken English and communication skills are provided and placement of the trainee.
After completion of three months of training, she was referred to Vasavya Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation unit as front office executive and earning around INR 6000/- (Rupees Six thousand only) per month. INR 6000/- is a huge amount for her, in her words after all the problems faced during her life I have no hope in life and was thinking that my future is dependent on other, now with the support from Vasavya Mahila Mandali, my dream come true that I am able to stand on my own feet. I am proud that I am not dependent on others.
