Self Paced Skill

Objectives: Students will work at an individual pace toward skill levels they wish to attain.

Students must demonstrate a Mastery Level of 90% or higher in order to move on to the next level. There are 12 Levels which students can Master. A percentage, which will be recorded as an Exam Grade, will be entered based on the number of MASTERED levels (not the current levels working on).

The percentages will be assigned as follows: Skill Levels Mastered: Percentage: Skill Level: Percentage: 1 10% 7 70% 2 20% 8 80% 3 30% 9 90% 4 40% 10 100% 5 50% 11 110% 6 60% 12 N/A

Skill Levels: 1. Multiplication Tables 2. Evaluating Expressions 3. 1 & 2 Step Equations 4. Combining Like Terms & Distribution 5. Percent Equations & Proportions 6. Variables on Both Sides 7. Rational Expressions 8. Absolute Value Equations 9. Formulas 10. Inequalities 11. Algebra II Linear Equation Mix 12. Class Tutor & Explanation

Pre-Test: We will take a Pre-Test in here to determine everyone’s starting level

Guidelines: During the class period, students will work practice problems at their skill level. There will not be new material taught during SPS days. There will be random Skill Review Checks. Failure to score 85% or higher on a Skill Review will result in students going back to that level until Mastery of 90%+ is again reached.

This is a self directed assignment. In other words, you stop where you want to. If you want a C grade, then once you reach 8 levels you may stop and focus on level maintenance. If you want a 10%, learn one level, and stop. Students may not disrupt or distract other students. This is an individual assignment. If you are satisfied with your level of attainment, you must work on something. Being nonproductive is not an option.
