The Basics

• Comprehensive (Core Academics and CTE) • Grades 10-12 • Capacity is 700 students; approximately 235 per grade • Location: S. Wilmington St. • WTCC Calendar • Transportation: Express Bussing with Hub at Southeast Raleigh High • Athletics – Southeast Raleigh High • For August 2014 we are recruiting rising 10 and 11; however, we will accept rising seniors if they choose to apply. • Students must apply to one of the ten specific programs • Students must have met promotion requirements • World Language (Spanish)

Ten Programs Air Conditioning, Heating & Geospatial Information Systems Refrigeration Biopharmaceutical Technology Nursing Assistant Collision Repair Plumbing Cosmetoogy (Diploma) Simulation & Game Development Electrical Systems Welding

• Courses in the program area are taught by WTCC faculty • Students earn college credit in the ten program areas • All programs provide a pathway to an AAS degree, certificate, or diploma program at Wake Tech

Vision for the Academic Program

• Project Based Learning • Deliberate collaboration protocol between WTCC/ WCPSS teachers to make sure that the academic program is taught through a CTE lens • Pathway of Work Based Learning experiences (Job Shadowing, Internships, Apprenticeships, Co-ops) • Integration of soft and employability skills into all courses

Type of Student

• Passion for the program • Understand value of core academics as part of program • Criteria - Grades, GPA (3.0 GPA/ CCP) (Last 2 report cards); EOG/ C scores; student engagment/ behavior (Principal and Teacher recommendations) • Underrepresented students in the program areas

Application Process

 Applicants must complete a pre-application for a specific program/s o 1st Generation College o Essay o 3 Recommendations (1 Administrative/Counselor, 1 Math, 1 ELA) o Report Cards; Transcript; EOG/C scores o If selecting more than one program, may choose up to three and they must be ranked o Must meet the technical standards for the program

 Timeline for Second Round of Application: February 9-March 25, 2014 o Students will need to complete the pre-application on paper and mail to the address on the application o Students will need to complete a transfer form for the Office of Student Assignment o Both the Pre Application and the Transfer form will be available on the school website
