Women S Ministry and Small Groups

Women’s Ministry and Small Groups

Denise Tisdale, our Women’s Pastor, has been a member of Brownsville Assembly since February of 1984. She has been involved in ministry to women at Brownsville for 23 years, and has also been facilitating recovery groups since 2007. Denise, through teaching and personal ministry, brings forth the truth of God’s Word with clarity and practical application. Her heart’s desire is to see women become healthy in all areas of life: the spiritual, physical, emotional, mental, sexual, social, and financial. The 12 Step Ministry

This is one of the means the Women’s Department has made available to help women of all spiritual, social, and economic backgrounds find that place of healing and wholeness. The 12 Steps – A Spiritual Journey is a ministry for adults who seek healing from the brokenness of damaged emotions. Through the use of Biblical principles, 12 Step wisdom, and the power of self-disclosure, the 12 Steps – A Spiritual Journey becomes a road map on the journey toward lasting change and healing. The path to wholeness is one of surrender, and this ministry gently leads women to a proper dependence upon God, rather than a false trust in self.

We invite you to join us on this road to healing. The book on which this group is based was written by people who have experienced the healing love of God. The authors approach recovery from a traditional 12 Step perspective, but they also understand the spiritual basis and Christian roots of the 12 Steps and recognize Jesus Christ as their Higher Power.

Dee Vaught, our Women’s Ministries’ Event Coordinator, has been a member of Brownsville since July of 1988, and has served in various capacities. Since July, 2009, she has worked closely with the Women’s Department. Dee coordinates the signature events that occur several times a year. She also oversees the women’s small groups that are not a part of the recovery group ministry. Dee has a heart for discipleship. She desires to facilitate, through the leading of Holy Spirit, in a manner that helps women grow into their divine destiny.

Signature Events These events are held three to five times a year, and include a variety of activities. These include special services with guest speakers, themed teas, showers for local service/charitable organizations, out of town shopping trips, in-house conferences, and holiday celebrations. These signature events provide a safe environment for inviting friends, co-workers, and family members. They feed so many different parts of the women – the physical, spiritual, social, emotional – as well as provide an atmosphere for building relationships. Small Groups have proven to be a successful venue for women to receive the ministry and build friendships that only a small group setting can provide. We invite you to visit our small groups and find the one that meets your needs for this season of life.

“The Women’s Department desires to provide women with effective tools with which to work, and a safe environment in which to heal, so they may experience wholeness in every area of their lives – the spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, financial, sexual, and social. It is equally important that with their newfound knowledge of who they are in Christ, these women also feel a sense of responsibility for reproducing in others the same freedom and healing in which they now live.”
