Job Description

Job Title: Pathway Talent Coach (Northern Ireland)

Department: Sports Team

Reporting to: Pathway Integration Manager

Location: Home based Northern Ireland with travel to Archery GB offices (Lilleshall National Sports & Conference Centre, Newport), UK and international travel

Archery GB is the governing body for the sport of archery in Great Britain and Northern Ireland and serves eight Regional Societies. Archery GB has the specific purpose of developing participation at grass roots level and winning medals at major events on a sustainable basis. This includes the development and optimisation of our Olympic and Paralympic pathways.

Archery GB’s Sports Team Pathway is undergoing a period of unprecedented change and is committed to building a sustainable and high performing pathway in Northern Ireland, that will consistently deliver athletes capable of winning medals on the World stage.

Archery NI are seeking to appoint a Full Time Pathway Talent Coach to work within the Northern Ireland Talent Pathway. This is a new role and a very exciting opportunity to create and work in a high-performance environment.

Job Purpose

To facilitate the development of the Northern Ireland Talent pathway by achieving the Key Objectives.

Key Objectives  To achieve conversion of Olympic and Paralympic athletes from Pathway into podium level programmes.  To deliver a quality experience for coaches and athletes within programmes.  To facilitate the retention of athletes in physical activity.

.1 Key Activities

 Deliver a sustainable and high performing Academy for both Olympic and Paralympic athletes.  Deliver Talent Identification and Talent Transfer sessions for potential Olympic and Paralympic athletes.  Day-to-day management of NI volunteer coaches  Responsible for quality assuring NI volunteer coaches engaged with NI programmes  Deliver and engage in coaching activities at clubs, schools and universities  Contribute to and facilitate workshops and other events designed to inform and educate athlete and coaches  Facilitate the development of WRS 720 competitions including head to head and team rounds  Work collaboratively with Archery GB Sports Team, Archery NI and external partners to meet key performance targets  Maintain, manage and develop comprehensive performance databases to track and monitor athlete development in line with Archery GB system  Present a professional image of and be a positive advocate for Archery NI and Archery GB at all times

Key Measurables

The success of this role will be measured on:  The quality and quantity of athletes converting from the NI Pathway into podium level programmes  The percentage of athletes retained in physical activity  The quality of experience based on feedback by Archery NI members within programmes

Person Specification Essential Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience (unless otherwise stated)  Level 1 Archery GB or World Archery Coaching Accreditation  Level 2 or Higher Archery GB Coaching Accreditation (Desirable)  UK Strength and Conditioning Association Accreditation (Desirable)  Running high performance training sessions  Creating and working to an Individual athlete development plan  Delivering TID and Talent Transfer Sessions for Olympic and Paralympic athletes (Desirable)  Working in a schools and universities environment (Desirable)

.2  Running 720 WRSH2Hs and Team Competitions (Desirable)  Managing a volunteer workforce  Dealing with National Governing Bodies and Northern Ireland Institute of Sport (Desirable)  Have current up to date knowledge of latest technical models and equipment set up  Required to have knowledge of preparing high performing athletes for competition  An understanding of the needs of elite athletes and coaches in a high performing environment  Understanding of the various sports science and sports medicine disciplines  Ability to communicate complex information in terms that are easily understood by a wide range of audiences  Good coaching skills including the ability to adapt to the environment to motivate behavioural change  Skill in building and maintaining productive relationships with Stakeholders  Microsoft office and performance analysis literate

General The job holder is required to comply with Archery GB rules, policies and procedures and to engage in staff development opportunities and periodic Sport Teams reviews, in accordance with terms and conditions specified. The job holder will co-operate on health and safety matters; not interfere with anything provided to safeguard health and safety; to take reasonable care of own health and safety and report all health and safety concerns to an appropriate person or the Chief Executive.

Flexibility Clause The job holder is required to be flexible in their duties and may be required to undertake other duties and responsibilities as specified by Archery GB and NI.

Variation Clause This is a description of the job as it is constituted at the date shown. It is the practice of Archery GB to periodically review job descriptions, to update them and to ensure that they remain relevant to how the job is to be performed. The appropriate Director will consult with the job holder concerning necessary changes with a view to reaching their agreement. Where agreement cannot be reached Archery GB reserves the right to make such changes following reasonable notice being given.
