The Post Liverpool College seeks to appoint a General Support Teaching Assistant for Upper School, to work with and supervise individuals and groups of children under the direction of the line manager.

The successful candidate will be required to care for and supervise pupils inclusive of specific and individual learning needs, enabling access to learning for all pupils and assistance and support in classroom management and behaviour techniques and providing specialist support in the Curriculum Support Department.

We are looking for a candidate to facilitate a learning experience that provides all pupils with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential, both in and beyond the classroom and to contribute to raising the standards of attainment of SEND pupils. In addition, the overall progress and development of these pupils are to be supported and monitored, ensuring the school’s responsibility for providing personal and academic growth is achieved

The School Liverpool College is one of the Northwest’s leading co-educational day and boarding schools. Established in 1840 it is situated on an extensive 26 acre site on the edge of Sefton Park, close to the end of the M62. The Principal, Mr Hans van Mourik Broekman is a member of the Headmasters and Headmistresses Conference (HMC) and commenced his duties in June 2008. The College’s Preparatory School, which is situated in its own grounds adjacent to the Upper School educates 300 pupils from 4 – 11 and includes a Pre Prep school. The Senior School has 500 pupils of whom 150 are in the Sixth Form. In June 2012, the College announced it would convert to Academy status and set out an ambitious programme of curricular innovation and phased growth in facilities and pupil numbers. Job Description / Person Specification General Support Teaching Assistant

Training  Relevant Level 3 qualification and experience and training in relevant learning strategies e.g. literacy and/or particular curriculum or learning e.g. bilingual, dyslexia, ICT etc.

Core Duties  To provide one to one and small group support, in and out of the classroom.  To contribute to planning and preparation of support lessons and keep appropriate records.  To monitor student progress.  To adhere to College policies and procedures, including Equal Opportunities, SEND, Health and Safety, Child Safeguarding etc.  To work as a member of appropriately designated teams (departmental/ pastoral/duty) and to contribute positively to effective working relations within the school.

Curriculum Provision and Development  To assist the Curriculum Support Manager in supporting an appropriate, challenging and interesting curriculum programme.  To assist in the process of curriculum development and change so as to ensure continued relevance to the needs of pupils.

Reporting to: The Curriculum Support Manager

Responsible for: The provision of a full learning experience and support for students both in and beyond the classroom. Liaising with: The Curriculum Support Manager Teaching Staff Other Support Staff

Working Time: 37 hours per week, during term-time only.

Salary: £13,966 paid pro rata.

Communication  To communicate appropriately and effectively with colleagues, parents and children.  Where appropriate, to communicate and co-operate with persons or bodies outside the College.  To follow agreed College policies and procedures for all communications.
