SECTION 262813 – FUSES
PART 1 - GENERAL
0.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
0.2 SUMMARY
A. This Section includes fuses.
0.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Source Limitations: Obtain fuses from one source and by a single manufacturer.
B. Comply with NFPA 70 for components and installation.
C. Listing and Labeling: Provide fuses specified in this Section that are listed and labeled. 1. The Terms "Listed" and "Labeled": As defined in the National Electrical Code, Article 100.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
0.1 MANUFACTURERS
A. Manufacturers: Unless otherwise directed by the Owner, provide products by one of the following: 1. Cooper Industries, Inc.; Bussmann Div. 2. Gould Shawmut. 3. Tracor, Inc.; Littelfuse, Inc. Subsidiary.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
0.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine utilization equipment nameplates and installation instructions to verify proper fuse locations, sizes, and characteristics.
B. Do not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

A. Feeders 601 Amperes & above: Bussmann Class L, Low Peak, Current Limiting, KRP-C_SP 600 VAC. All fuses shall be the low peak current limiting fuses regardless of amperage.
B. Feeders and Branch Circuits 225 thru 600 Amperes: Bussmann Class RK1, Low Peak, Dual Element Time Delay, LPS-RK_SP 600 VAC, LPN-RK_SP 250 VAC.
C. Motor Branch Circuits: Class RK1, time delay, or Class J in motor control centers.
D. Branch Circuits 200 Amperes & below: Bussmann Class RK5 class fuse, Dual Element Time Delay, FRS-R 200.
E. Busway Plug-in Units: Class RK1 or RK5 consistent with application above.
0.3 INSTALLATION
A. Install fuses in fusible devices, including busway plug-in units, as indicated. Arrange fuses so fuse ratings are readable without removing fuse.
0.4 IDENTIFICATION
A. Install typewritten labels on inside of door of each fused switch to indicate fuse replacement information.
0.5 FUSE REPLACEMENT
A. Replace all fuses which fail during construction. In lieu of this, provide 10 percent spare fuses for each type and size, minimum of one set for each type and size.
