Generic Learning Outcomes of University of Sussex professional/industrial placements within undergraduate and postgraduate taught (Masters’) degree courses

Each academic School of study will establish the specific skill and knowledge learning outcomes which will be built into a bespoke version of the Professional Placements Portfolio. This is a reflective e-portfolio that students keep during the placement work period and which forms part of the pass/fail assessment of the professional/industrial placement.

The generic Learning Outcomes for all professional/industrial placements will include the development of specific professional skills, knowledge and behaviours that will be recorded through the Professional Placements Portfolio and which will include personal development planning(PDP)/continuing professional development(CPD) processes:

 Reflecting, recording and sharing with others (student peer-group and academic staff) your personal and skill development based on logging your experiences in the Professional Placements Portfolio using the PebblePad e-portfolio.  Identifying and describing the responsibilities and relationships within the organisation including functional specialist/professional roles and how these relate to the placement provider organisation’s objectives.  Completing a Sussex Plus e-CV webfolio; documenting skills, knowledge and attitudes developed during the professional/industrial placement to demonstrate how the experience has influenced your career development learning awareness, the career research undertaken and the influence on your decisiveness in making an informed career choice;  Demonstrating the integration of academic learning with practical work-based learning in a critically reflective assignment based on your professional/industrial placement.
