Message from Inspector James Davies

I do not normally provide an update for these newsletters but I thought it pertinent to do so due to the forthcoming changes to Thames Valley Police and your local police area.

On the 1st June Thames Valley Police will be introducing a new operating model to help us better meet the needs of the public we serve. Within the new structure Aylesbury Vale Local Police Area will be centred around three core areas of business: response, investigation and neighbourhood policing.

The new structure has been designed to give the flexibility to better prioritise the way we respond to crime, ensuring that we can effectively and efficiently target our resources at the areas of greatest need at any specific time.

Under the new structure, local neighbourhood officers will continue to focus on working within the community identifying issues, problem solving and preventing crime.

To aide consistency I will be taking over the management of the neighbourhood police teams across the whole of the Vale while Inspector Chris Young from the rural neighbourhood team will move to take over newly formed Problem Solving Teams.

I look forward to leading my staff to provide a visible neighbourhood police team who engage locally to address problems in conjunction with the local community.

James Davies Neighbourhood Policing Inspector, Aylesbury Vale Local Police Area

“You said, we did” local priorities

You said: Reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB) in and around the grounds of Coxhill Way, Aylesbury.

We did: Have increased patrols, using shift officers, neighbourhood officers and special constables.

You said: Mini moto’s being ridden around the area.

We did: We are in the process of identifying those responsible and will be taking the appropriate action. We are not in a position to actively pursue persons on bikes, due to the dangers involved to those and members of the public. Good news:

A Section 59 Warning has been issued to one individual for riding a scrambler bike in a public area.

Various meetings have been held with partner agencies in regards to those who are constantly causing ASB in and around the area.

We are continuing to liaise with Neil Douglas from Estate and Block Management regarding issues in Coxhill Way.

Number of individuals have signed Anti-Social Behaviour Contracts and Parenting Contracts.

Assisting VAHT, we have supplied evidence to enable an eviction to be carried out on a individual, regarding the use of drugs and anti-social behaviour.

Noise issues

We will continue to work with partner agencies regarding ASB. Noise issues such as music playing loudly are not deemed ASB and therefore the team are very limited in what we can realistically achieve. All noise issues need to be reported to the Environmental Health Services at the local Council and housing provider who are better equipped to deal with these issues.

Parking issues

Parking offences in Aylesbury Vale have been decriminalized, and the local authority have assumed responsibility for enforcement. In the rare case of police attendance over an issue of parking, it is down to the discretion of the attending officer to determine whether or not a ticket is to be issued.

It is not obstruction to park a roadworthy and legal vehicle outside someone else’s house.

If a vehicle is parked on a yellow line, it is the responsibility of the Council to deal with it, not the Police.

Can we remind parents/guardians about the need to park sensibly when it comes to dropping off and picking up children outside schools.
