Station 3 Is by Zamboni Door

Station 3 is by Zamboni door.

Warm up is the similar set up as last week. I'll convey the change to the coaches in either corner.

Station 1: Long strides at half speed. Drag the toe on ice to accentuate the full range of motion. 2-3 reps. Add pace 2-3 rep. Add puck half speed. 2-3 reps. Add pace 2-3 reps. If extra coaching is available work with players hold the boartds with both hands and practice striding out with alternative strides. End with teams racing carrying puck Coaching note: Make sure player DO NOT CHEAT!!! get the right stride and progress from there. Praise/reinforce players that are taking their time to get the stride right. have them demo as needed.

Station 2: start at cone. pass off of tire. receive pass. continue to next cone. repeat at backside course. change directions every 3 reps through Coaching note: Coach players to stay low and anticipate getting the puck back when the pass if off the tire. STAY LOW!!! USE THREE TIRES

Station 3: give out pinnies to one line if available. lines at blue line. puck get sent in. first teams battle for possession. MUST pass to team mate. Player getting puck CANNOT shoot until teammate has been given puck. 30 second cap on skirmish. Coaching note: Coach players to remember stay low and wide when getting the puck near the boards (safety). Coach players to lift sticks to acquire the puck if the don't get there first.

Station 4: puck gets set in by coach. CHANGE OF POSSESSION triggers pass to teammate. So as soon as opposing player acquires puck, defender tries to steal puck and pass to teammate on other side. Coaching note: Coach player to move to get open (get low, battle, separate). Coach players to maintain shoulder contact. Lift sticks.

Station 5: Offensive players have ringlets. Time is set for 1 minute. Player with single tries to use body position to fend off attacking player positioned behind them Coaching note: demonstrate both styles of play first. Separate pairs into teams. consider points for players that can maintain possession for 1 minute. Points for steals. Players defending shoud not be skating to lose the attacking player. Use only body positioning to fend off the player. Have players go in groups of 3 to manage this

Station 6: Payers go shoulder to shoulder to blue line and back. goal for offensive player is to force stick on the ice. goal for attacking player is to get under the stick and lift their stick as many time as possible. Switch roles Coaching note: Players will tend to separate. Coach them to maintain shoulder to shoulder contact. This is NOT a race!! have them stay close together.
