Honors 210B, Spring 2005 Final ID and Map Exam: Study Guide
The test will have two main parts. Part I will focus on the ID terms. Part II will focus on map identification. Remember that the Final ID and Map Exam is cumulative. In other words, it will include items from the period covered by the Midterm ID and Map Exam and items introduced since that test.
I. Part I will focus on the ID terms. Below are all the possible ID terms that may appear on Part I of the exam. Some of these terms will appear on the exam. You should turn to the Bentley and Ziegler textbook, your lecture notes, or the discussion readings to gather information on these terms. Warning: Do not turn to the Internet, as much of the information there is inaccurate! Hint: The index of Bentley and Ziegler should be very helpful as you prepare for the test.
Your answers for the ID questions should do 2 things:
1) Identify, as specifically as you can, the person, concept, or event. Give an approximate date. (Century is fine. When relevant, you may need to give a range of centuries.)
2) Explain the historical significance of the term. When you think about the historical significance, consider the following questions: What were the historical results of a particular event? What did the actions of this person lead to? What larger themes is the term representative of?
