Samuel Circles For Men Discerning Religious Life
A coalition of Men’s Religious Communities serving in the Archdiocese of Boston will host The Samuel Circles, evening gatherings each month for young single men who are looking into the possibility of joining a Religious Community. The name for these gatherings is taken from the story of the call of the prophet Samuel who heard his name called from God as a young man and was aided by the prophet Eli. The first Samuel Circle will take place at Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, 573 Washington St. Newton, MA on September 23rd from 7:00pm to 9:00. For more information go to www.facebook.com/Samuelcircles4mendiscerningreligouslife or call Fr. Rocco at 508 429 2144. Don’t come alone. Bring a friend. The next Samuel Circle will be October 28th. This initiative is one way to celebrate the upcoming year of Consecrated Life which begins this coming November.

Permanent Diaconate – Information and Inquiry Sessions
If you are discerning God’s possible call to serve the Church as a minister of charity, word, and sacrament as an ordained Deacon in the Archdiocese of Boston, you and your wife (for those who are married) are invited to take part in the upcoming Inquirer program. The program consists of four meetings: three evening informational sessions to be held at the Pastoral Center in Braintree (66 Brooks Drive) on Tuesday October 7, 2014 7:00-8:30pm (Topic: Who is the Deacon and am I called?), Tuesday October 14, 2014 7:00-8:30pm (Topic: How does diaconate ministry fit into marriage and family life?), and Tuesday November 4, 2014 7:00-8:30pm (Topic: The Application Process and Formation Experience), as well as a half-day discernment retreat to be held on Saturday November 15, 2014 (location TBA) from 9:00AM – 1:00PM (with lunch provided). Those who are interested in the Diaconate are strongly encouraged to attend all four events along with their wives (for those who are married). Please contact the Permanent Diaconate Office ([email protected]) to sign up or for more information. The next group to be admitted into formation will begin classes in September 2015 at the Theological Institute for the New Evangelization in Brighton. Our Church is global and multicultural and so we actively seek men for the diaconate from our many ethnic communities in the Archdiocese. Academic classes are offered in English, however we can offer some support for those for whom English is not the primary language. We also offer some academic courses in Spanish every four years, with the next such option beginning in September 2018. The Diaconate Formation Program is four years in length and is open to single and married men who will be between the ages of 35-65 at the time of ordination.
