DO YOU WANT TO BE A GLOBAL FELLOW? There is only one month left to apply. Applications are available now at http://careers.usc.edu/students/internships/global-fellows-internship-program/. The Global Fellows Internship Program encourages exploration of international work experience. This is a competitive internship program that provides selected students with international internship experience in Asia. The program is open to U.S. citizens of all majors and provides stipends for USC undergraduates (freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors graduating in December) to live and work in Asia for eight weeks during the summer.

AEG & THE LA KINGS NETWORKING EVENT AEG & the LA Kings will host a Sports and Entertainment Networking event being held Monday, November 28, 2011 at STAPLES Center in Downtown Los Angeles.  Huffington Post –Science Internships

The Huffington Post is seeking a motivated and qualified intern to work closely with the new science correspondent. Interested applicants should be able to start work immediately and commit to at least three months working approximately 20 hours per week out of the Beverly Hills office. Responsibilities include researching scientific literature, organizing/editing content using iMovie, offering creative input, and uploading content to HuffPost servers. The ideal candidates will have a strong science background. Science majors in their junior or senior year, or recent graduates, are encouraged to apply. The science correspondent is looking for an independent worker who is detail-oriented, highly organized, can multitask, and is an avid reader of scientific content, both scholastically (in periodicals, etc.) and in popular platforms (magazines, blogs, etc.). Proficiency with Mac systems is a necessity, while experience with HTML and iMovie are preferred. This is an excellent opportunity for a young scientist with an interest in communicating scientific ideas to the public to learn about new media platforms and gain experience at The Huffington Post.  Charles Dunn Company –Marketing & Research Internship

The Charles Dunn Company, one of the largest full service regional real estate firms in the western United States, currently has a need for two Marketing & Research Interns to support our Marketing & Research departments.  Minor Details Productions –Event & Marketing/Social Media Internship

Minor Details Productions is seeking a creative, detail-oriented college student with strong communications and graphic design skills. Opportunity to gain valuable experience while working on a variety of projects involving event preparation and execution as well as website maintenance, marketing and social media. The intern will also assist with the implementation and execution of marketing communications as well as work collaboratively with our clients. The intern will gain insight on how Minor Details measures effectiveness, indentifies and communicates and analyzes press trends. Data Management Intern

The Civic Engagement Department seeks highly detail-oriented and dedicated critical thinkers interested in the field of data and politics to support the organization’s national civic engagement research activities. The Data Management Interns will assist with the management of voter files, data on naturalization, and other data sources. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with analyzing and reporting on trends in political participation, in addition to producing ongoing short reports. The ideal candidates should have a strong interest in politics, strategy, or civic engagement in general, and must be comfortable working with numbers and MS Excel. Some knowledge of SQL language is desirable but not required. Additional training will be provided to help candidates learn the processes of political targeting, engagement strategy, and the role of data in campaigns; research standards; and much more. The internships will be filled immediately and ideally two candidates will be selected with separate focuses. 15-20 hours recommended per intern.

Executive Management Intern

The Executive Administration Intern reports directly to the Senior Director of Civic Engagement and provides support to the department, including but not limited to: contact management, archive systems improvement, attendance of select strategy meetings, tracking of national program activity, research assignments, and production of memoranda and short reports. The Executive Administrator will play a critical role in the organization’s national civic engagement program in its preparation for the 2012 election season. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in politics, Latino civic engagement, and nonprofit management. The internship will be filled immediately, and the ideal candidate will be able to commit 10-15 hours a week.

Demographic Research Intern The Civic Engagement Department seeks dedicated critical thinkers interested in the field of research, data, and politics to support the organization’s national civic engagement research activities. The Demographic Research Intern will help strengthen the research capacity of the NALEO Educational Fund’s voter engagement program by researching and analyzing demographic data and census-related reports. Responsibilities include but are not limited to collecting and analyzing Census data, and other projects as assigned to support the organization’s research on the Latino electorate and its field-based voter mobilization efforts on the field. Technical training will be provided. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in politics, demographic or scholarly research. The candidate should be comfortable reading and summarizing academic reports and articles, conducting internet research, and working with MS Excel. The internship will be filled immediately and the ideal candidate will be able to commit 15-20 hours a week.

Naturalization Research Intern

The Civic Engagement Department seeks dedicated critical thinkers interested in the field of research, data, and politics to support the organization’s national naturalization research activities. The Naturalization Research Intern will help strengthen the research capacity of the NALEO Educational Fund’s citizenship program by researching and analyzing demographic data and naturalization-related reports. Responsibilities include but are not limited to collecting and analyzing data from the Department of Homeland Security, Pew Research Center, Brookings Institute and other projects as assigned to support the organization’s naturalization policy and assistance programs. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in politics, demographic or scholarly research. The candidate should be comfortable reading and summarizing academic reports and articles, conducting internet research, and working with MS Excel. The internship will be filled immediately and the ideal candidate will be able to commit 15-20 hours a week.

Service Coordinator Intern

The Service Coordinator provides programmatic and administrative support to the NALEO Educational Fund’s naturalization assistance program. Responsibilities may range from providing information to the public via national hotline, developing reports, attending U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ meetings, assisting with one-on-one N-400 applications, organizing and promoting events, interacting with the public, and assisting the department during citizenship workshops. The intern will be trained on the naturalization process and on the naturalization application. The internship will be filled immediately and the ideal candidate will be able to commit 15-20 hours a week. Applicant should be available on specified weekends to help during naturalization assistance workshops.

 Rogers & Cowan– Entertainment Marketing department Intern

An internship at Rogers & Cowan is intended to provide a true learning experience for the student along with the opportunity to observe public relations professionals in a business environment. It will provide familiarity with the public relations field and with the functions of a large agency. Our program enables students to develop marketable skills in a real life professional environment. Interns assist our publicists with day to day duties including research, writing copy for news releases and feature stories, coordinating photo shoots and assisting in the organization and preparation of special client events. Interns will also help compile media lists and participate in creative sessions. All interns must receive college credit and we must receive verification of such credit. The internship is non-paying and is limited to the course of the school semester or quarter. Scheduling is very flexible; Rogers & Cowan will accommodate the student’s school calendar. Students may intern any time during their college career, i.e., we accept freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors.  USC Center for Urban Education – Communications Intern

The Center for Urban Education (CUE) is seeking a student intern with a background in communications, journalism and/or marketing. The intern will gain experience in writing articles for publication in print, on the web and other online media (e.g., through Constant Contact); assisting with the development of other content; maintaining and updating information on CUE's website; and preparing materials for dissemination to targeted audiences. Student will work 10-20 hours/week, starting in January. CUE is a research center housed at the Rossier School of Education. It leads socially conscious research and develops data, benchmarking and process improvement tools to assist colleges and universities in improving educational outcomes for minority students. FELLOWSHIPS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

 Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship

The Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship will allow U.S. citizens to contribute to the strengthening of the public sector abroad by serving in professional placements within foreign government ministries or institutions while simultaneously carrying out an academic research/study project. The fellowship will help advance public policy research agendas, fosters mutual understanding and builds lasting ties between the U.S. and partner countries. The Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship provides a distinctive opportunity for U.S. citizens to work side-by-side with the citizens of other countries to tackle the toughest public policy problems of the day. This new exchange is the vanguard of international public diplomacy, as it leverages the excellence of the Fulbright program to achieve global development objectives. Fulbright Public Policy Fellows will serve in partner country governments, which include: Bangladesh, Cote d’Ivoire, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Haiti, Jamaica, Mongolia, Nepal, Nigeria, Thailand, and Tunisia. The State Department, partner country governments, and the Institute of International Education will coordinate professional placements for candidates in public policy areas including, but not limited to, health, education, agriculture, justice, energy, environment, public finance, economic development, housing, and communications. Candidates must be in receipt of a master’s or J.D. degree by the beginning of the Fellowship (Summer 2012) or be currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program. Applicants must also have at least two years of work experience in public policy-related fields. Final selection will be made by the Presidentially-appointed Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
