Course Objectives: (Prerequisite – “B” Average in Art I and TEACHER APPROVAL)

A Year course for students of diverse abilities and skills will work as a team in a business-like atmosphere. They will receive on the job training in the world animation and comic creation. Likewise, students will learn technology that they will be able to use in any art related career. In fact, the technology needed for this project will put students in the class ahead of the curve of their peers when they enter college. Students will also utilize and enhance the drawing skills creating projects of comics and animation that can be used within the school district and a prototype for possible other school districts. This is because research show that individuals retain information more accurately when presented in an interesting, eye-catching way such as in comic or animation. These projects will deliver school conduct expectations in a way that is meaningful for to the student body and will resonate with the students. Furthermore, this opportunity gives students more one-on-one to increase their artistic expression, written expression, task related, and social behavior skills.

**The students for this animation class are hand-selected by the classroom teacher based upon their talents as artists, leadership abilities, and have proven to be self-driven to be future entrepreneurs. Likewise, not only do they has a desire to learn about the world of amination/ comics, but they jump at the opportunity to learn software and skills that can carry them into a career right out of high school.

Student Expectations: Students are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous, and cooperative manner as stated in the student handbook. Students are also expected to follow the art class conduct guidelines as posted. In addition, students are expected to: 1) Be in their assigned seats, quiet, and attentive when the bell rings. Students who are not in the art room and in their seats at the bell will be considered tardy. Three tardies will result in a detention. Four tardies will result in a referral. 2) Be prepared to work every day. Students are responsible for providing their own pencil, art notebook, and any supplies that you need every day! There will be an art notebook check every other Friday! 3) Be respectful of all class supplies, materials, and equipment. Students will be responsible for items assigned to them and their condition upon return. 4) Clean up after yourselves. Students who do not clean up, will be warned with a detention. Repeated failure to clean up will result in written assignments instead of art projects. 5) Respect the artwork of others. Destruction of others work will result in a failing grade for your own project. 6) Get items from their lockers and use the restrooms before class. Passes will only be given in emergency. 7) PUT CELL PHONES AND HEADSETS AWAY!!! THEY ARE NOT ALLOW IN THE ARTROOM. Students will be verbally warned if any device is visible. The second time, the item will be asked for by the teacher and it will be sent to the office. If a student refuses to give up the device, the student will be sent to the office with a referral. 8) Students need to be responsible for all work on days that they are absent. Work missed will count as a ZERO and then CHANGED when work is made- up from the absence. 9) Give your “BEST EFFORT”

Evaluation : Grades will be based on the DISTRICT-WIDE GRADING SCALE. Grades will be based on the following scale: A 90 - 100%, B 80 - 89%, C 70 - 79%, D 60 - 69%, F 59 - 0%
