The Hungry Caterpillar

1. In the light of the moon a little egg lay on a leaf. 1. ______2. One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and— pop!—out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar. 2. ______3. He started to look for some food. 3. ______4. On Monday he ate through one apple. 4. ______5. But he was still hungry. 5. ______6. On Tuesday he ate through two pears, but he was still hungry. 6. ______
7. On Wednesday he ate through three plums, but he was still hungry. 7. ______
8. On Thursday he ate through four strawberries, but he was still hungry. 8. ______
9. On Friday he ate through five Oranges, but he was still hungry. 9. ______
10. On Saturday he ate through one piece of chocolate cake, one ice cream cone, one pickle, one slice of Swiss cheese, one slice of Salami, one lollipop, one piece of cherry pie, one sausage, one cupcake, one slice of watermelon. 10. ______
11. That night he had a stomach ache! 11. ______
12. The next day was Sunday again. 12. ______
13. The caterpillar ate through one nice green leaf, and after that he felt much better. 13. ______
14. Now he wasn’t hungry anymore— and he wasn’t a little caterpillar any more. 14. ______15. He was a big, fat caterpillar. 15. ______
16. He built a small house, called a cocoon, around himself. 16. ______
17. He stayed inside for more than two weeks. 17. ______
18. Then he nibbled a hole in the cocoon, pushed his way out and… he was a beautiful butterfly! 18. ______
