AmeriCorps VISTA Make a difference…gain experience

The Prevention Resource Center is currently recruiting VISTAs for July 2016 placement in various communities including: Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Helena, Hamilton, and Missoula!

AmeriCorps*VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) members in Montana spend one year of their life to mobilize Montana communities to find long-term solutions to poverty. VISTAs are increasing the capacities of our communities to help make a better future for Montana’s youth.

VISTA’s with the Prevention Resource Center work to reduce child abuse and neglect, youth substance abuse, juvenile crime and violence, teen pregnancy, and school drop out.

WHAT DOES A VISTA DO? They help non-profit agencies enhance their prevention efforts through: . Coalition Building: VISTAs create community partnerships to address prevention issues . Needs Assessment: VISTAs determine the status of prevention in the community . Group Facilitation: VISTAs coordinate the development of a community prevention plan . Resource Development: VISTAs develop and expand human and financial resources . Technical Assistance: VISTAs will assist the community partnership in developing a prevention training clearinghouse

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS? . A fabulous life enhancing experience . Accelerated professional growth when compared to most other entry level positions . Relevant training and career development opportunities . A monthly living allowance of $973 . Relocation and settling-in reimbursements for candidates who move more than 50 miles for service . An education award of $5,730 at the end of service, to pay for tuition or loans; or, a $1,500 cash stipend . Supplemental health benefit

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? . Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills . Experience in organizational relations and small group processes . Demonstrated initiative, motivation, and the ability to work independently of supervision .
