FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS IN THE SCHOOL UNIFORM SHOP - START OF SCHOOL YEAR

Where is the Uniform Shop? Our Uniform Shop is located near the front of the school in the corner of the Senior School building, adjacent to the car park. Our entry is north facing, away from Grand Junction Road. If you are unsure, report to the Front Office upon arrival and you will be directed. To ensure easy access and parking, please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment.

Where can I park my car? There is a car park at the front of the school, but it can fill quickly at school start and finish times. Please do not park in the drop off zone in front of the school hall. This is a quick drop/pick up area only. Parking is also available at the shopping centre across the road. Rear access through the oval is accessible from Armbuster Street.

Do we really need a fitting? We already have some items. Each student is required to have a complete school uniform. This will enable us to professionally fit them with their required summer uniform to begin school. (Winter uniform is fitted later in Term 1.) We also take this opportunity to explain uniform policy to each student so that they are aware of what is expected. This includes overall presentation, hairstyles, jewellery and shoes.

How much time is required for the uniform fitting? We usually allow 30 minutes per student. Appointments are set 30 minutes apart, so please try to be on time and aware of the appointment after you. If you have more than 2 children, still book 30 minutes each and we will more than likely be finished earlier. (ie. Four children at once from one family can often be fitted in just over one hour as we have 4 change rooms.)

What are the regular hours that the shop is open to the general public? Uniform shop opening hours are Monday and Thursday 8.30am to 11.15am, and again Thursday 3.00pm to 4.15pm. These times are noted on the shop window, the school newsletter and website. We also offer a service where uniforms may be purchased over the phone or by email.

When and how do I pay? We accept cash, cheque and eftpos, visa and mastercard. Lay-by is also acceptable. Some items may be out of stock with delivery just prior to school starting and may have to be on lay-by.

What do we need to buy? All of the uniform requirements are listed in our uniform policy booklet, our school website and in our Uniform Shop. We also have a selection of second hand items, should you require them.

Everyday summer uniform consists of:  Boys blue short sleeved polo shirt, navy shorts and navy socks.  Girls summer dress and white socks.  Both will require a (unisex) navy knitted jumper (or red jumper for years 10-12).  A school hat and bag.  Socks, hair accessories, excursion bags and library bags are also available. All students will also require a unisex sport uniform consisting of:  Sport polo top, navy sport shorts and white sport socks.  A primary tracksuit top for years Reception to 6 or a Rugby top for Years 7 to 12. How many items of each will my child need? We recommend that you begin with one of each but also realise that every student and their family has differing lifestyles and budgets. A second uniform top may be required in the warmer months or if designated PE uniform days are consecutive.

How much will the uniforms cost? Uniform prices vary, depending on sizes. Junior primary students can usually cost approximately $350-$400, whilst Middle and Senior students can be in the vicinity of $450 to $500 depending on sizing. These costings are based on one of each item.

Will I be able to browse through second hand sale items? Yes, absolutely. Our second hand items have been lovingly donated by our school community, with items already cleaned and repaired for your convenience. Please allow for more time during your appointment as it can take time to sort through and decide. Perhaps an extra 30 minute time slot for 2 or more students so that we are not too rushed or take time from another person’s allocated appointment.

Do I need to buy a TVCS school bag or hat? Yes. These items are part of our uniform and designed to complement the clothes. The bags come in 3 sizes depending on your child’s year level and size, to accommodate spinal support and care. The hats come in differing styles and sizes so as to optimise sun protection. We suggest that young students add some ribbons or key chains to individualise their bags and make them easier to recognise whilst stored on classroom bag racks.

Do you sell school shoes? Our uniform shop does not sell school shoes. We recommend that school shoes be purchased in early January as children often experience foot growth at this time and shoe fittings made before this time could be outgrown. Sandals can sell out quickly and parents should try to secure their child’s shoes in early January.

Black school shoes are to be worn for everyday uniform. Reception to Year Three are allowed velcro tabs in place of shoelaces. Navy blue or brown school sandals may also be worn in summer. Predominantly white or black sneakers are required for sports uniform. (No fluorescent sneakers please.)

What if my child has a growth spurt before they have even worn their uniform? Due to the time between fitting and commencement, we do our best to ensure additional growth room and allow for any exchanges in the new year, as long as items have not been washed, labelled or worn. Please wait until approximately 2 weeks prior to commencement before pre-washing and labelling, just in case.

When do we collect any lay-by or back order items? At your fitting you will be advised of the two (2) days that our shop will be open, a few days prior to the commencement of the school year. This will be the time to collect lay-by items and make additional purchases or exchanges.

Can I conduct any other business at school whilst I am there? Yes. You may also wish to take additional time after or prior to your appointment to finalise any arrangements with the Front Office and Finance Department. Allowances should be made in your schedule, remembering the Front Office hours are 8.00am to 4.00pm.
