This summer all rising Pre K3 –Kindergartners must read:
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein and
At least seven picture books and/or two chapter books.
The reading log should be turned in by the first Friday after the beginning of school to your
Language Arts Instructor.

The required novel serves as a jumping off point for classroom activities at the beginning of the school year.

The following list encompasses a wide range of book levels and interests. Please select books from the list that you think your child will enjoy. Most books with lower reading levels are intended for emergent readers who are practicing reading on their own and sometimes with assistance, whereas some books with higher levels make appropriate read-aloud for any age. After each title, the reading level is indicated using the Accelerated Reader “Book Level” which is a grade level equivalent (e.g., AR BL 3.2 would be grade 3 and 2 months). Please note that the reading level is not an indicator of the interest or maturity level of a book but is given as a general gauge for the difficulty level of the title. Part I. Scholars Name: ______
