The little girl in the story can’t find her bear. She tries to get her family to help but they are all too busy. The little girl tries to be a good detective to figure out where her bear might be.

(7) How did the sister say should find the bear? (Answer) Throw another stuffed animal and she will find it. (Follow Up) Do you think that’s a very good way to find things?

(8) What did she find instead of the bear? (Answer) She found her barrette, her kitten, magic markers, and her purse. (Follow Up) Was she close to finding the bear?

(9) Where did she find the lost bear? (Answer) In her bed. (Follow Up) Have you ever lost something that ended up being somewhere you should have found it?

(10) How do you think the girl felt when she finally found her bear? (Answer) Any logical answer. (Follow Up) How would you feel? Activities

1. Draw your favorite stuffed animal. Describe it in your opus.

2. Tell about a time you lost something you loved. How did you get it back?

3. Make a list of the places the girl looked for it her bear.

4. Make a Missing poster for the little girl’s bear. Use descriptive words so anyone reading the poster would recognize the bear if they saw it.

Introduction

1. Have a stuffed bear on the desk. Ask the students if they have an animal they really love. Say, “Today we are going to read a book about a girl who loses her favorite bear.”

2. When the students come in pretend you have lost something. Look around and have them look also. Say, “Today we are going to read a story about a girl who loses something.”

3. Have pictures of toys on the desk. When the students come in have them tell about their favorite toy. What would they do it they lost it? Say, “Today we are going to read about a girl who loses her bear.”
