(Santa Ana)—Rancho Santiago Community College District today announced the appointment of Darryl Odom to the position of director, district construction and support services. In this role, Odom is responsible for the leadership and administration of all aspects of construction activities, energy management systems, CAD systems and the state-funded scheduled maintenance program. In addition, Odom will serve as a resource specialist in the general areas of maintenance, groundskeeping and custodial services. In this capacity, he will provide data, information and current methodologies to ensure that district standards are met. A graduate of the University of Maryland with a B.S. in building construction management, Odom has built an impressive body of knowledge and experience during his 34 years in the construction industry. Upon graduation, he joined Chrysler Realty Corp. as its western construction manager. He enjoyed two tenures with Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. in Baltimore, MD, first as a project engineer and then as a senior construction manager. There he managed extensive remodeling projects and the complete renovation of Sinai Hospital School of Nursing. At SCES Inc., Irwindale, CA, Odom served as director of field operations with responsibility for five regional managers throughout the United States. He spearheaded the construction of more than 100 site lighting projects and energy management systems. Most recently, Odom completed a seven-year tenure as director, district construction and support services in the Pomona Unified School District. There he oversaw the modernization of four elementary schools and one middle school. He also organized the abatement of hazardous materials from each school site.
