Christina will remove all of the projects that have been completed from the portfolio summary.

Danny arrived and gave us an update about the migration to 10.1 server, DTS is currently working on the piece that authenticates users. Once the authentication piece is complete then the server will be up for us to use. The setup for 10.1 server is a different environment so there’s going to be some training needed for all of the people who use it. Danny has volunteered to host a training for server users to show them what is different between 10.0 server and 10.1.

The webserver is a separate module from 10.1 but the modules are going to be delivered at the same time.

Tim Garza is scheduling staff to update the Geoportal.

There are two new stewardship requests listed on the portal. The appropriate subcommittee chairs need to review their assigned plans and models to approve. After the subcommittees review them, Ruppert and Joel can email Greg to let him know how things went.

Page 2 Joel requested that if there are additional plans received, can we handle it electronically so that things progress quickly? Yes. Greg requested that Ruppert and Joel decide how the subcommittees will review the forms.

Item 4: Stewardship Workflow Lead Joel Dudas Support Information Preparation None Desired Outcome Informational Time Allocation 15 minutes Action Items Signoff by ArcSDE Admin

New (DAT) templates need to be developed for GeoPortal for ArcGIS 10 covering both the minimum data standards and DWR Enterprise data standards.

Tim Garza is going to schedule some staff time to bring the GeoPortal up to date.

If your dataset is to be hosted on the atlas, you don’t need to obtain signatures on the ArcSDE admin (because it will be in the atlas), you still need a geodatabase manager (Greg Twist or Ruppert). We need to revise the roles and responsibilities document to show this.

For the future, a conversation needs to occur discussing the geoportal between EGC and DTS.

Item 5: Incorporating Bing Licensing into the Enterprise License Agreement with Microsoft Lead Greg Smith Support Information John Lance’s question Preparation None Desired Outcome Informational Time Allocation 10 minutes Action Items DTS Microsoft Enterprise Contact to obtain a price quote for a bing maps key for department- wide use.

Recently Jane met with Tony Lafferty (our Esri account rep) and DTS staff, including our internal Microsoft Enterprise contact, to discuss the possibility of getting a Bing key for department-wide use. The Enterprise Contact is going to contact Microsoft and get a price quote. Once we have a price quote Tim Garza will make a decision on the funding of this feature, and the question will be returned to the EGC.

Item 6: Collaborative Delivery of NAIP Lead David Harris Support Information Preparation None Desired Outcome Informational Time Allocation 10 minutes Action Items

There are web services and download options on the California Environmental Information Clearinghouse (CEIC) for the 2012 California National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP). There is going to be an announcement sent out this week. An idea was brought up to have an alternative projection for better area projections. Department of Fish and Wildlife is serving this dataset. The CEIC program is trying to encourage framework dataset stewardship by departments in the Natural Resources Agency.

Ruppert is planning on standing up a NAIP service for internal use so that if the DFW goes down, DWR has an additional option.

Item 7: Esri User Conference Requests Lead Jane Schafer-Kramer Support Information Preparation None Desired Outcome Informational Time Allocation 5 minutes Action Items

There has been a form available on the training and outreach subcommittee page for folks to signup online. It’s going to be open until February 15th. There are 20 tickets available. This is going to be the first year that our ticket requests exceed available tickets. We are going to implement the prioritization schema decided on last year. An open meeting is scheduled for February 25 at 1:30 pm in Room 210 and WebEx to determine who is going

Page 4 to be assigned a ticket. There currently have been 28 requests submitted for tickets.

Item 9: Natural Resources Agency Update Lead David Harris Support Information Preparation Desired Outcome Time Allocation Action Items 5 minutes

The CERES library has been getting a refresh. CERES has been contacting data stewards to update existing records. They’re working on some improvements. CERES is helping stand up services for the state geoportal, today alone, they’re putting up 10 ocean services.

Item 10: CMCC Update Lead Nancy Miller Support Information Preparation Desired Outcome Time Allocation 5 minutes Action Items

CMCC has been dissolved and in place there are two new groups being formed, a user group and a leadership council. There was an email sent out announcing this recently. As the other groups are solidified, Christina will pass the information along.

Item 4: Other Business Lead Greg Smith Support Information Preparation Desired Outcome Time Allocation Action Items

Bill Brewster has recently stood up a geoprocessing service on the NCRO instance of ArcGIS Server, he would like to make this available to be stood up on the Enterprise server too.

Have we decided a location for us to stand up geoprocessing services? There is a NAS directory available for geoprocessing services. For web applications

Page 5 you put the webservices under a particular folder. The NAS directory would be a nice place to have the geoprocessing services nested here as well. Bill should join the ArcGIS Server Cadre.

There was an email sent out on the CMCC listserv to garner support for open continuous online exams for Research Analyst (GIS) I and II, Research Program Specialist I, II, and III, and Research Program Manager classifications. Jane brought up that presently DWR does not use the Research Program Specialist or Manager classifications for GIS positions. She suggested a that EGC have a conversation in the future about this to better meet the Department’s needs for managing GIS and to provide internal upward mobility opportunities for the Research Analysts. Ruppert discussed that having an environmental scientist who has GIS skills working with environmental scientists works better than having someone who is a pure GIS classification. Greg said we should try and figure out how to get support for this and that it’s a strategic decision that HR needs to support.
