Dear Families, We’ve had another great fun filled week. We contined our study on seeds and plants. On Monday we had a hands on investigation comparing and contrasting Burr oak acorns to red oak acorns. Students enjoyed sketching the differences in the science logs and cracking open the nuts to possibly find a little weevil. Who knew only 1 out of 10,000 acorons will become an oak tree! On Wednesday we planing our bean seed bags and for Art we enjoyed using oil pastels to create our own flower and vegetable gardens which were inspired by Lois Ehlerts book Planting a Rainbow. Thursday we celebrated international “Talk Like a Pirate Day” by reading, writing, and of course greeting one another like pirates. On Friday we will end the week by reviewing the four different parts of plants and their jobs. We will also explore how stems really do work by placing celery and white carnations in colored water. We are excited to see what happens on Monday when we return. Throughout the week students have also shared their seed collections with one another. Thank you again for assisting in the homeowork assignment.
