University of Dayton Department of Counselor Education and Human Services Summer, 2017 Classes

Class #1: Developing and Improving Attitude and Character: A Vital Key to Student Success This course is designed for all educators and will stress the implementation of the “Character Card” system, a proven method for improving the attitude and character of students. This hands-on class will challenge participants to develop their own plan for character development.

When: Monday, June 5th, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Registration at 8:00 am Credit: You must complete your assignment by June 17th. This is a summer term one class. Non-graded credit will be posted June 30.

Class #3: Character Education: Best Practices - Six classroom teachers will share their proven method for improving the attitude and character of students. At times the class will split into Elementary, Middle School and Secondary. This hands on class will challenge participants to develop their own plan for character development. Mr. Jim Place will be the primary presenter for this class. When: Tuesday, June 6th from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Registration at 8:00 am Credit: You must complete your assignment by June 17th. This is a summer, term one class. Non-graded credit will be posted June 30.

Class #4: Character Education: The Key to Success in Today’s World This class features speakers who will share their ideas on how to prepare successful future employees. This hands on class will challenge participants to develop their own plan for character development. Mr. Jim Place will be the primary presenter for this class. When: Wednesday, June 7th from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Registration at 8:00 am Credit: You must complete your assignment by June 17th. This is a summer, term one class. Non-graded credit will be posted June 30.

Class #6: Character Education: Positive Strategies to Decrease Bullying This class focuses on strategies and plans that have successfully worked in various districts throughout the state of Ohio to build a more positive school climate, which decrease the amount of bullying. When: Thursday, June 8th from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Registration at 8:00 am Credit: You must complete your assignment by June 17th. This is a summer, term one class. Non-graded credit will be posted June 30.

Site: All four workshops will be held at 1700 S. Patterson Blvd., the old NCR headquarters which is now the University of Dayton River Campus.

Lunch will be provided at all classes. Pre-registration: There is a $50.00 registration fee PER CLASS.

Pre-registration is required and must be received five days before the workshop. Your $50.00 non-refundable registration fee must accompany your registration. You will receive a confirmation email to confirm the receipt of your registration.

Tuition and fees: $200.00 per semester hour. Participants have the option of taking the class for one, two or three credits. Additional independent study will be required if taking the class for two or three credits. Payment information for the university tuition will be given to you on the day of the workshop. These are pass/fail classes.
