DEDICATED AIDE The Kingsbury Center is one of the oldest nonprofit educational institutions in the Washington area that addresses the special needs of young children, adolescents and adults who experience learning difficulties. The Center is seeking a Dedicated Aide for this school year. We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience and education. Under the direction of the administrative team, the Dedicated Aide is assigned to an individual student with sensory, emotional and learning challenges to assist with a variety of tasks that promote student learning and well-being within the classroom. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES Possesses a basic understanding of the curriculum in the classroom to which the student is assigned. Facilitate one on one learning and improve student participation within a small group using a variety of instructional and behavior management strategies. Escort student to and from special subjects, related services, lunch and recess. Observe student behavior and manage behavioral controls when necessary. Provide feedback to the teacher in the areas of learning, behavior and IEP monitoring and record keeping as required. Use appropriate teaching materials and assistive technologies to facilitate student learning. Assist teacher in coordinating activities with other teachers and related service providers.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A minimum of 60 credits toward a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related discipline or an Associate’s Degree in Child Development or related field. A minimum of one year of experience working with students in structured situations.
