  • COLE CUSTER Gearing up for Michigan Doubleheader
COLE CUSTER Gearing Up for Michigan Doubleheader KANNAPOLIS, North Carolina (Aug. 4, 2020) – This weekend, Cole Custer, driver of the No. 41 HaasTooling.com/Jacob Construction Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) and his fellow NASCAR Cup Series competitors head to Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn for a doubleheader at the 2-mile track. The world’s best stock car drivers are scheduled to complete over 600 miles combined Saturday and Sunday in the backyard of manufacturer Ford, which is located approximately 65 miles northeast of the track in Dearborn. HaasTooling.com will share the No. 41 machine this weekend with Jacob Construction. Jacob adorned Custer’s Ford Mustang earlier this season at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway. Jacob is a multifaceted firm with a focus on construction, development, design and technology services. Jacob provides clients with a wide range of services in the design build and construction management sectors of the construction industry. In conjunction with these services, Jacob self performs structural concrete, architectural and structural precast erection. So far this season, the Mustang has earned 11 wins for Ford. Custer and his SHR teammate Kevin Harvick have both earned wins for the Blue Oval this season. A win this weekend would be huge for Ford and SHR. Not only because it’s close to Ford headquarters, but this weekend’s events have a unique trophy. The Michigan Heritage Trophy was created in 2013 and is awarded to the winning manufacturer of each race. Custer heads into this weekend coming off of an eighth-place finish in last Sunday’s race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon.

(Saturday, June 30, 2012) – Sam Hornish Jr. continued his string of rock-solid finishes in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. He finished sixth in Friday night’s Feed the Children 300 at Kentucky Speedway. The driver of the No. 12 Wurth Dodge Challenger posted his eighth top-10 finish and third consecutive. He remains fourth in the series championship standings, 33 points behind leader Austin Dillon. “That’s the thing that you’ve got to do; you’ve got to be consistent,” Hornish said. “We need to keep being smart and doing the things that we’re doing. We’re chipping away at it. We’d love to do it all in about two races and be leading the points but it’s not going to happen that way. We just need to be smart about what we do.” Brad Keselowski overcame the loss of track position early in the race to finish seventh, his eighth top-10 finish in 11 starts this season. Keselowski was running third when he pitted during the first caution of the race on lap 26. The crew had an issue with the right-front during the stop plus receiving a penalty for pitting outside the pit box and a tire violation. Keselowski restarted 29th but was able to work his way back onto the top five by lap 130.

Contact: Adam Saal Matthew Simmons Bill Klingbeil SRT Motorsports - Nationwide Race Recap - Road America Trouble-free Day Gives Hornish Fifth Place Finish at Road America Villeneuve Leads Early, Ends Up Sixth at America’s ‘National Park of Speed’ June 22, 2012, Elkhart Lake, Wisc. - Sam Hornish Jr. stayed out of trouble and kept all four wheels on the road – literally – to score a fifth-place finish in the Sargento 200 at Road America Saturday afternoon. Hornish grabbed his third top five of the season and chopped 11 points off Elliott Sadler’s lead in the Nationwide Series championship standings. He now trails Sadler by 34 points entering next week’s event at Kentucky Speedway. Hornish led once in the race for three laps. The driver of the No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge said he had a simple strategy entering the weekend’s event at the 4.048-mile road course, a track known for chaotic racing. “We were just trying to be smart,” Hornish said. “My goal for the weekend was to make sure that we weren’t sitting in any sand traps. I’m really happy about that and to be able to pass some really good road racers there towards the end, I feel like it was pretty good. There were some guys running into each other on the last lap and I did everything I could do to try to stay out of that.” The strategy worked, despite the fact Hornish was involved in a rambunctious five-car battle for fourth-place in the closing laps featuring Max Papis, Danica Patrick, Brian Scott and his Penske Racing teammate for the weekend, Jacques Villeneuve.

FEDERATION INTERNATIONALE DE L'AUTOMOBILE Press Information 2016 United States Grand Prix Friday Press Conference Transcript 21.10.2016 TEAM REPRESENTATIVES – Cyril ABITEBOUL (Renault), Maurizio ARRIVABENE (Ferrari), Gene HAAS (Haas), Christian HORNER (Red Bull Racing), Monisha KALTENBORN (Sauber), Toto WOLFF (Mercedes) PRESS CONFERENCE Cyril, Nico Hulkenberg has been signed, it looks like a decision has been taken by Renault to spend some money on drivers. What does that say about Renault’s ambition for next year? Cyril ABITEBOUL: Well, we always said that it would be a long-term plan but obviously there has to be some steps and some visible steps. That is the first step of the plan. There will be more development; there will be more announcements, more decisions. We have a substantial investment plan in Enstone. There are also good upgrades coming up on the engine side. So it’s all coming together. The structure is coming together. So, fairly satisfied with the way things are progressing. Inevitably the focus is now going to fall on the other seat. What do you want from that driver and would you ideally like him to be French? CA: Frankly, nationality, we don’t want to start having some tactics in terms of nationality. We want him to be fast, we want him to make some contribution to the team, just like Nico will be doing with his experience. We know he had a strong spirit and can contribute to get the team together, so the second driver should be doing exactly the same. We have a bit of time to make the decision.
