In his first season in the NFL, he ranked fourth 35 among all rookie receivers, and by the 2007 season, White tied for 36 eighth place among NFL wide receivers in receiving yards with 37 1,202 yards; and 38 39 Whereas, in 2008, he finished fourth in the NFL in receiving yards 40 with a careerhigh 1,382, also breaking a team record held since 41 1981. In addition, White amassed eightyeight receptions and seven 42 touchdowns during that season, both career highs. On December

[5283] 2 1 16, 2008, White was named to the 2009 Pro Bowl. White set the 2 singleseason record in receiving for the Falcons in 2010 and the 3 team’s singlegame record in a half and in a game. In 2011, his one 4 hundred fifteen catches led the NFL for the season; and 5 6 Whereas, a member of Payne Methodist Church, White is the 7 proud father of three fine children, and he sponsors two 8 outstanding charities, Roddy White Keep the Faith Foundation and 9 Stop the Violence South; and 10 11 Whereas, in order to shape communities the Roddy White Keep 12 the Faith Foundation identifies, promotes, and supports improved 13 physical activity, enhanced environments, and provision of 14 educational growth opportunities by offering an annual summer 15 camp held at James Island Charter High School; and 16 17 Whereas, Stop the Violence South promotes peace, finds positive 18 solutions to help communities resolve conflict, and seeks to help 19 young people become positive citizens through education and 20 awareness. Stop the Violence South routinely offers free events 21 with music, vendors, motivational speakers, and more in a 22 wholesome, safe, and positive family environment in the 23 Charleston TriCounty area; and 24 25 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 26 Representatives appreciate the outstanding work that Roddy White 27 provides through the Roddy White Keep the Faith Foundation and 28 Stop the Violence South, and are grateful for the South Carolina 29 All Star Weekend with Roddy White that he is bringing to 30 Charleston from June 8 through June 10, 2012. Now, therefore, 31 32 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 33 34 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 35 by this resolution, recognize and honor Sharod Lamor “Roddy” 36 White on his extraordinary athletic achievements, and to commend 37 his successful efforts toward improving society through the Roddy 38 White Keep the Faith Foundation and Stop the Violence South. 39 40 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 41 Roddy White. 42 XX 43
