Press Release

Find out what’s behind it all: The 50 years success story of Pöppelmann KAPSTO® .

Lohne, April 2011 – Pöppelmann KAPSTO® celebrates its 50 year jubilee at the Hannover Messe Industrie 2011 (HMI). All customers and business partners are very welcome at the Pöppelmann stand F16, hall 5 and at the Pöppelmann stand C05 in hall 21 from the 4th to 8th April 2011. With the motto “find out whats behind it all” many innovations can be found – and a long success story can be celebrated.

KAPSTO® was officially registered with the German Patent office on 18th January 1961. But the basis was established much earlier. As early as February 1949, brothers Josef and Hubert Pöppelmann set the course by creating the Brothers Pöppelmann Cork Factory.

A real classic: The „nucleus of the business“ was a converted chicken coop on their parents farm in Brockdorf-Querlenburg! The first company brochure read: “all beginnings are difficult, but success is expected due to creativity, initiative and never ending activity.” And success did indeed soon follow with the start of plastic processing in 1955 when the first manual injection moulding machine was bought. This was bought at the Hannover exhibitions – where we now celebrate our jubilee. The first plastic product in 1955 was a grip cap for a grip cork. In 1957 the first Rohling tooling machine was bought. So began the structure of KAPSTO®. The closure plugs and protective caps soon developed into a popular product. The KAPSTO® brand was officially registered on 18th January 1961.

This has turned into a genuine success story – for the Pöppelmann family and for the Pöppelmann company. Thanks to its perfect products and the all round first class service Pöppelmann KAPSTO® had already soared to market leader position at the beginning of the 70’s. This branch of the business manufactures standard products as well as bespoke, customer specific caps and plugs. Customers value the quality and reliability of the company: 99.98% of complaint free deliveries speak for itself.

The all round first class service plays a big part in this high customer satisfaction. Amongst other things it includes delivery assurance (despatch within 48 hours, valid for more than 3000 standard products), a quick application solution (including application advice over the telephone), free samples, easy CAD-Data download service, bespoke products on request and much more.

With this whole package, Pöppelmann KAPSTO® continues on its road to success: since 2011 the company has entered the US market. Production will still be in Lohne, sales and distribution are being set up on site.
