IEEE P802.21 Media Independent Handover Services

IEEE P802.21 Media Independent Handover Services Tentative Teleconference Minutes of the IEEE P802.21d Group Management Task Group Chair: Yoshihiro Ohba Editor: Antonio de la Oliva

1. 8AM-10AM, EDT, WEDNESDAY, MAY 8 1.1 Meeting called to order by Chair at 8:00AM Daniel Corujo is the minutes-taker

Chair started the meeting describing the IEEE patent policy and other procedures for teleconference.

The agenda submitted to the mailinglist was discussed. No objection to change the agenda.

1.2 Discussion on existing issues by Antonio and Daniel

Defining group manipulation primitives should belong to the Service Management service, instead of the Command Service, as in 802.21a. No one objected to this move.

The ResponseFlag mechanism was explained. An extension of this mechanism could be achieved by adding this behavior as a flag in the 802.21 protocol header, allowing all messages to benefit from this, even future ones. However, this mechanism only works for MIH Protocol messages, because internal commands (via MIH_SAP or MIH_LINK_SAP) don’t have the header. It was agreed to extend this behavior to the MIH_Link_Configure_Thresholds and the MIH_Net_HO_Commit messages.

For the GKB Generator description and Key hierarchy revision, Toru described contribution #73, regarding sections 9.4.1, 9.4.2 and 9.4.3. Some more text will be added (e.g., formats of GKB). Also, section 9.4.4 will still feature new corrections. It was decided to wait for more input in the next few days, and incorporate it into a new version of the draft, and discuss it in the next face-to-face meeting.

For the defining bootstrapping group, Toru will provide another document, which will be discussed in the face-to-face meeting.

We then proceeded to address the current draft’s comments:

Comment #2: It was decided that this message is considered just remote.

Comment #3: This is dependent on the face-to-face meeting discussion. Comment #4: This is just an issue that Antonio will take care of.

Comment #5: Comment agreed. The figure with the state machine will also be updated with the latest developments.

Comments #6 to #15: These are minor updates needed, that Antonio will attend to.

Comment #19: Toru will add this explanation.

Comments on Annex F: Will be addressed in the face-to-face meeting.

Comment #31 (Annex J): It was agreed that the MIB will probably need extending.

1.3 Discussion on new issue by Toru Kambayashi

Toru raised a set of issues referenced in document 21-13-0074-00-MuGM, regarding GKB without Data Key and Extension of Group Status. The first one does not require a big change in the standard, and targets the reduction of data size. Toru will add a description later in a new contribution document.

1.4 Action Items

Update TG document based on today’s discussion. Toru will prepare some contributions to address the open issues.
