Reminder: June 6th Class of 2020 TShirts will be distributed in the café during breakfast and lunch time.

8th Grade Celebration Agenda June 7, 2016

Students eligible for promotion and have turned in their permission slip will participate in the following events:

8:00-9:00 1st Period - Students will report to 1st period for attendance and then to the cafeteria for the 8th grade breakfast at 8:00. 9:00-9:45 2nd Period - Students will go to their 2nd period to view the 8th grade slide show, sign year books and wait to start the clap out and final Buccaneer flag raising. Students to receive wristbands for Rec Center.  Students with electives will be reporting to rooms 19-125 and 19-100.

9:45 – 10:00 Clap out and final flag raising – Students will assemble on the basketball courts to start the clap out procession which will end at the flag pole on Louisiana Ave. A map will be provided prior to this event for teachers to know and to share with students. Information will also be shared school wide so the 6th and 7th grade students and teachers may participate in “clapping out” the 8th graders. The drum line will lead this procession through the school. We will head back to the basketball courts to begin loading of students onto the buses.

10:00-10:15 Transportation to Rec Center - All students will be transported to the New Port Richey Rec Center via school buses.  6 buses will transport all at once over.  2 buses will shuttle us back to GMS starting at 1:00

10:15-1:00 New Port Richey Rec Center – Things you may want to be reminding students they will need: sunscreen, towel, bathing suit, water … in order to enjoy an afternoon at the pool. While at the rec center students will be able to swim in 3 of the pools, lounge around the pool deck with friends, or play basketball on the outside courts. Lunch will be served at the rec center, which will consist of Pit Boss BBQ chicken, pork, mac-n-cheese, baked beans, cookies and bottled water.

1-1:30 Transportation back to GMS – Students will report back to their 2nd period to collect any items they may have left at GMS for the day and wait for dismissal.

2:00 Normal Dismissal

6:30 – 8:00 P.M. 8th Grade Luau in the Cafeteria

 Semi-formal dress is acceptable but not mandatory. The theme for the dance is a luau. Appropriate sundresses, khakis, and luau themed button up shirts are all acceptable attire.

 No jeans or shorts are to be worn.  Girls: Dresses must be no shorter than fingertip length. Dresses must have shoulder straps (spaghetti straps are permitted). Sundresses that meet the above criteria are acceptable.

 Boys: Shirts must have a collar. Dress pants or khakis must be worn. No denim or shorts.

 Please make sure that your child is picked up promptly at 8:00pm in the drive thru area off Congress Street. (Bus Loop)
