PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Under the general supervision of the Operations Manager, serves as a principal assistant with responsibility for accounts maintenance and budget control functions of the office.

- Maintenance of ledgers and accounting records for classification and recording of financial transactions and for the reconciliation of accounts and preparation of recurring or special reports; - Calculation and payment of salaries, allowances, travel claims and other payments to staff members, experts and consultants, vendors and other claimants; - Maintenance of cash books, including control of disbursements and balancing of books and ledgers; - Preparation of financial data for budget estimates and financial planning; - Certifies, pays and controls MIP claims payments; - Carries out all bank transactions; - Responsible for petty cash disbursements and control; - Responsible for financial/accounting documentation, Including checking and certifying PSD accounts; - Responsible for Support Budget status control and timely feedback to the Operations Manager; - Reconciliation of cash books with bank statements; - Maintaining liaisons with officials of local banks & financial institutions to obtain the necessary information, changes in procedures and regulations and matters pertaining to maintenance of office accounts; - Attending to VCU and External expenditures in SAP/VISION - Prepares correspondence, reports related to the job; - Acts as custodian of the Safe

- Monitoring DCT reports and liquidation of office DCTs; Maintaining relevant reimbursement/DCT documents; Reporting on quarterly basis on DCT status; - Assists higher level officers in all aspects of accounts maintenance and budget control by providing reports on financial status, procedures, exchange rates, costs & expenditures and potential funding problems;

QUALIFICATIONs:  Completion of secondary education. Ability to operate calculator or other machines used to maintain accounts. University degree and additional commercial training in accounting or finance is desirable.  Seven years’ experience, including progressively responsible work in finance and accounting activities of which 2-3 years’ experience with an UN agency would be an advantage.  Good knowledge of English and fluent in local language (Farsi)  Typing and computer skills  Practical knowledge of SAP is an added value;  Previous work experience with UN would be an asset
