McLeod and Huggins 10 Document Path: l:\council\bills\gjk\21051sd04.doc 11 12 Introduced in the House on March 10, 2004 13 Adopted by the House on March 10, 2004 14 15 Summary: Chapin High School Girls Cross-Country Team 16 17 18 HISTORY OF LEGISLATIVE ACTIONS 19 20 Date Body Action Description with journal page number 21 3/10/2004 House Introduced and adopted HJ-16 22 23 24 VERSIONS OF THIS BILL 25 26 3/10/2004 27 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A HOUSE RESOLUTION 10 11 TO CONGRATULATE THE CHAPIN HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS 12 CROSS-COUNTRY TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2003 STATE 13 CLASS AA CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP. 14 15 Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were 16 pleased to learn that the Chapin High School girls cross-country 17 team won its second consecutive State Class AA championship in 18 November 2003; and 19 20 Whereas, the Chapin Lady Eagles under the highly effective 21 leadership of Coach Jack LeGrand and assistant coach Barry 22 Morris have continued their tradition of excellence in 23 cross-country as one of the best teams in the Palmetto State during 24 the last decade, inasmuch as this championship marks the fourth 25 time the Lady Eagles have been the best in the State in their 26 classification; and 27 28 Whereas, the Chapin cross-country team provided several 29 outstanding performers at the state meet: Amber Hines was the 30 first Chapin runner to cross the finish line; she came in third. 31 Chapin’s Ashlyn Ruzcko placed fifth, Claudia Nunez placed 32 fifteenth, and Erin Lovelace placed twenty-second; and 33 34 Whereas, the members of the Chapin High School girls 35 cross-country team this season were: Susie Baker, Alexis Bennett, 36 Christin Boatwright, Savannah Camp, Sagan Cantor, Kelli Carr, 37 Brittany Davis, Lauren Eubanks, Laura Hernandez, Amber Hines, 38 Austin Keller, Kensey LeGrand, Olga Nunez Lopez, Erin 39 Lovelace, Christa McNeillie, Claire Miller, Sara Montgomery, 40 Grace Newton, Claudia Nunez, Melissa Pinner, Lauren Roundtree, 41 Ashlyn Ruczko, Stefka Sadler, Caroline Weber, Whitney 42 Westermeyer, and Emily Whyte; and

1 [4915] 1 1 2 Whereas, this energetic and talented group of young women, 3 through their accomplishments this season, has brought 4 recognition and credit not only upon themselves and Chapin High 5 School but also upon Lexington-Richland School District 5; and 6 7 Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, by this 8 resolution, would like to congratulate the Chapin High School girls 9 cross-country team for winning this well-deserved state 10 championship. Now, therefore, 11 12 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 13 14 That the members of the House of Representatives congratulate the 15 Chapin High School girls cross-country team for winning the 2003 16 State Class AA Cross-country Championship. 17 18 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 19 Coach Jack LeGrand and to the Principal of Chapin High School. 20 ----XX---- 21
