Annual Moon Festival celebration will be held on Saturday, October 3 at Library Park, in front of the South Pasadena Library Community Room at 1115 El Centro Street, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. Organized by the South Pasadena Chinese-American Club, the event is co-sponsored by the City of South Pasadena and the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library.
Ability First Gourmet Festival of Fall Sunday, October 04, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Cost: $300.00 Come relax and mingle with friends while sampling gourmet cuisine prepared by prominent local restaurants, and fine beverages by California vintners and brewers – all while supporting the AbilityFirst Lawrence L. Candidates' Forum for November 3 Election for School Board Wednesday, October 14 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. SPCC and two other community organizations are co-sponsoring this Forum for the community. The three candidates for the two South Pasadena Unified School District Board of Education positions will answer questions in a panel moderated by the League of Women Voters Pasadena Area. Dumpster Day October 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents are invited to bring items to the corner of Mission Street and Arroyo Drive where Athens Services will be providing the dumpsters for all disposable items too bulky or heavy to place in regular trash containers. Examples of items that will be accepted include refrigerators, ovens, couches, tables, chairs, etc. Free of charge to South Pasadena residents with proof of residency.
Rialto Theater 90th Birthday Gala. Saturday, October 17th 2 Shows 5:30 and 8:30 sponsored by Friends of the Rialto ! Join us for Silent Movies and Live Entertainment on the stage of the historic Rialto Theatre, and support our advocacy efforts to bring the Rialto back to life! This evening will feature gourmet concessions, cocktails and a selection of exciting performances and short films with live accompaniment, true to the spirit of 1920s when the theatre first opened. Guests will also have a unique opportunity to explore this historic theatre, including private tours for VIP ticketholders. Friends of the Rialto will also showcase their multi-phased plan to revitalize the building to its original use, bringing a variety cinematic and live performing arts to the venue.

Box Art Preview Party & Fundraiser Sunday, October 25th from 3 to 6 P.M., The designs for South Pasadena's Box Art Project will be unveiled at the: “Create Our Own Masterpieces” where you can meet the 10 artists. Hosted by Doug & Cara Yokomizo, Carolyn & Craig Watson, and the WatsonDesignGroup, at the home of Doug & Cara Yokomizo. There will be sponsorship opportunities for each of the 10 boxes, a live auction, cocktails and live music.
South Pasadena City and School District Election - November 3. Register to vote by October 19th. Vote by Mail application period Oct. 5 - 27. Early voting beginning Oct. 5. Running for City Council: Marina Khubesrian, M.D., Richard Scnieder, M.D., and Mayor Bob Joe. Running for the School Board: Incumbent Joseph Loo, Dr. Suzie Abajian, and Jon Primuth. Also on the ballot, a measure to renew and increase the Library Special Tax which brings in almost $230,000 a year specifically for our Library.
