Q & A about Wascomat Wetcleaning systems.
Why should I install a Wascomat wetcleaning system over the newer solvents and machinery that have recently appeared on the market?
All of the new “Green” or eco-friendly solvents are not without their own environmental problems. With the exception of Carbon Dioxide these new synthetic solvents are flammable and toxic. Carbon Dioxide has shown promise but extremely high operating pressures and purchase price have made this alternative virtually disappear in recent years.
Is wetcleaning better than the new alternatives as far as cleaning quality?
Yes
Only water has a density (lbs. per gallon) that comes close to Perk. Remember Perk replaced Petroleum in 90% of all the cleaning stores because of its superior cleaning qualities and that it was non-flammable. Over 90% of all stains that a cleaner has to deal with are water based and that they respond better to wetcleaning than drycleaning.
Why can’t I use my shirt washer or home washer to wetclean?
To do production wetcleaning one needs specialized equipment with precision controls over all aspect of the cleaning and drying process. Laundry machines by design cannot prevent dye bleeds, felting and shrinkage. It is for this reason that many cleaners resort to
“hand washing” which is very slow and laborious. Will wetcleaning become obsolete one day along with Perk and the other solvents that were used in the Drycleaning business?
No,
Don’t make the large investment in machinery and solvents that may be restricted in the future by landlords and local municipalities. Water will never be subject to any environmental regulations.
There are other wetcleaning machines that employ different technologies than the Wascomat system. Should I consider them?
No, Machines utilizing air bubbles or a stream of air lack the ability to remove soil.
Disappointed customers will not accept their clothes dingy and gray and will take their business elsewhere. These single purpose machines also cannot do regular laundry like a
Wascomat dual use wetclean system.
There are other wetcleaning machines that cost thousands more than the Wascomat, are they worth it?
No,
Business is always changing. The drycleaning industry has had more than it’s share of
“trunk slammers” and “fly by night operators.” Many cleaners have made investments in equipment that is no longer being manufactured leaving them without technical support of parts. If a machine can’t be fixed it is junk. Consider Wascomat.
