AMCHAM Business & Civic Leadership Awards

OVERVIEW AND CRITERA

The American Chamber of Commerce of Jamaica (AMCHAM) Business and Civic Leadership Awards, seeks to celebrate, highlight and encourage those who inspire others with their vision, leadership and achievement.

The goal of the awards programme is to showcase businesses, individuals and non-profit organizations that are driving and achieving economic and social progress in Jamaica through ethical leadership and stewardship and community building activities.

Categories

AMCHAM Jamaica Business & Civic Leadership Awards will be presented in three (3) categories:

1. The AMCHAM Jamaica Award of Excellence for Corporate Social Responsibility 2. The AMCHAM Jamaica Award of Excellence for Civic Leadership 3. The AMCHAM Jamaica Award of Excellence for Arts & Culture

Eligibility

1. The AMCHAM Jamaica Award of Excellence for Corporate Social Responsibility

This award recognizes corporate social responsibility by companies operating in Jamaica.

The awardee must have:

 Demonstrated commitment to corporate citizenship through but not limited to the organization’s business strategy over 5 years or, where the company is less than 5 years old, or for at least 80% of their existence.

 Demonstrated policies, programmes or projects with measurable/evidenced improvement of the communities in which they operate. 2. The AMCHAM Jamaica Award of Excellence for Civic Leadership

This award recognizes sustained commitment by individuals and non-profit organizations to national and community development evidenced by the funding and engagement in projects that enhance development, demonstrate and engender civic responsibility.

The awardees must have:

 Made continuous impact (at least 5 years) or in terms of improved social and economic conditions in a particular community or communities.

 Inspired/motivated others to cooperate in measurable/evidenced improvement of the lot of others through community involvement and projects.

3. The AMCHAM Jamaica Award of Excellence – Arts & Culture

This award recognizes outstanding contribution to the positive promotion of “Brand Jamaica” in a range of spheres including, manufactured products, promotions, the visual, and the literary and performing arts, by individuals, non-profit organizations and companies.

The awardees must have:

 Made a significant and continuous contribution (at least 5 years) or to the positive advancement of Brand Jamaica at the national, regional and international level.

 Must have contributed to the measurable/evidenced sustainability and economic advancement of the specific area of art and culture, including but not limited to job creation, knowledge and skill- sharing.

Nominations

As of Weds. August 25, 2010, The Nomination Process For These Awards Are Now Open to the Public, and Each Nomination Received Will Be Judged On Its Own Merit. Two (2) Nomination Forms are available for this Award Program: One (1) to be Used Nominations for the Corporate Social Responsibility Award; and Another Form For Use in Making Nominations in the (2) Categories; i.e. Awards for Civic Leadership, and the Arts & Culture Award. These forms are available from the AMCHAM Jamaica Offices, Suite 119, Jamaica Pegasus, Suite 119, First Floor, 81 Knutsford Boulevard, Kingston 5; or via e-mail at: [email protected]; or, online at the AMCHAM Jamaica website at www.amchamjamaica.org; and at www.suzuki-jamaica.com. Hard copies can be found at: Stewart’s Auto Sales, Ltd.; Capital & Credit Branches; and the offices of Supreme Ventures. It is recommended that Nomination Forms be submitted in soft copy (electronically), as well as hard copy, and that the hard copy and substantiating documents be delivered to the AMCHAM Offices.

Supporting documentation: In the category of “Corporate Social Responsibility”, Annual and financial reports are required.

In the Categories of “Civic Leadership” and “Arts & Culture” an Auditor’s report, or letter from an Auditor that a non-profit is an organization in good standing is required; and, in the case of Individual nominees, two (2) letters of recommendation from reputable institutions or persons, are required.

Two (2) third party testimonials are required for each nomination submitted.

We encourage photos, CD’s, DVDS, etc., and all of the above items should be delivered along with a hard copy of this Nomination Form to the AMCHAM office.

All items must be received at the AMCHAM Jamaica Office, Suite 119 Jamaica Pegasus, 81 Knutsford Boulevard, Kingston 5, by 4:00 p.m., September 15, 2010.

Judging Panel

An independent judging panel made up of respected corporate citizens will review nominations and select winners in each of the three categories based on information on nomination forms substantiated by verifiable/measurable data provided by nominators.

NB: INCOMPLETE/UNSUBSTANTIATED FORMS WILL RENDER A NOMINEE INELIGIBLE

Rules

1. The judge’s decision is final. 2. AMCHAM Jamaica retains the right to publish the names of nominees and awardees 3. All nominees must be agreeable to receiving the award at the AMCHAM Gala, should they be victorious. CEO’s of Companies; Directors/Heads of Non-profits and other Organizations; and Individuals, who are nominated and recognized as Finalists for these Awards must be willing to be present and to receive the Award at the Gala on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. 4. Documents submitted with nomination forms including photographs, DVDs, CDs, remain the property of AMCHAM Jamaica and will not be returned. This form must be completed by individuals and organizations who wish to make a nomination for (1) of the (2) Awards set out above, and the appropriate box “□” above, should be so marked.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please ensure that before completion of this Nomination Form that you have read carefully, understand and are confident that your Nominee qualifies for these Awards and meets the criteria set out in the “Overview and Criteria” document related to this Award program. If you have not, please contact our Offices to access that information, otherwise your submission will not be reviewed by our judges.

The completed Nomination Form can be submitted via e-mail, and hard copy, to The American Chamber of Commerce of Jamaica (AMCHAM) office. We will confirm the receipt of your Nomination Form by email or phone call within (2) working days after receipt. If you have any questions, or do not receive confirmation, please contact the AMCHAM office via phone or e-mail.
