1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A HOUSE RESOLUTION 10 11 TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND CATHAY CANNON 12 RODGERS FOR HER THIRTY-FOUR YEARS OF 13 DEDICATION TO HER STUDENTS AT AMBLER 14 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN PICKENS, UPON HER 15 RETIREMENT FROM TEACHING AND TO WISH HER THE 16 FINEST JOYS IN LIFE FOR MANY YEARS TO COME. 17 18 Whereas, Cathay Cannon Rodgers, upon completion of her studies 19 at Clemson University in 1974, began her long and remarkable 20 career in teaching various subjects and grade levels at Ambler 21 Elementary School where she had completed her student teaching 22 for graduation; and 23 24 Whereas, she benefits her community while serving her Lord as a 25 member of Easley First Baptist Church as she sings in the choir 26 and plays the handbells; and 27 28 Whereas, not only has she impacted her community as a whole, 29 but she has also left a lasting impression on the hundreds of 30 students she has taught over the years in the Pickens community; 31 and 32 33 Whereas, untold students doubtless reminisce about their cherished 34 days with Cathay Rodgers and consider her to be a symbol of all 35 the tools for life they carry from Ambler Elementary School; and 36 37 Whereas, in her much deserved retirement, she plans to work on 38 scrapbooks for her two sons and her granddaughter and to spend 39 pleasurable hours by the river in quiet reading; and 40 41 Whereas, Cathay Cannon Rodgers and her colleagues, Yvonne 42 Corn Bolding and Debbie Moorer Wilson, who are all retiring,

1 [4480] 1 1 have taught young minds beginning their educational pilgrimages 2 at Ambler Elementary School in Pickens for a remarkable total of 3 one hundred years, truly a centennial of service. Now, therefore, 4 5 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 6 7 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 8 by this resolution, recognize and commend Cathay Cannon 9 Rodgers for her thirty-four years of dedication to her students at 10 Ambler Elementary School in Pickens, upon her retirement from 11 teaching and wish her the finest joys in life for many years to 12 come. 13 14 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 15 Cathay Cannon Rodgers. 16 ----XX---- 17
