Concerning the Purchasing of Six-Thousand Under Armour T-Shirts for the Student Section

U N I V E R S I T Y O F C I N C I N N A T I U N D E R G R A D U A T E S T U D E N T S E N A T E Appropriation Bill S.16-A-XXX Concerning the purchasing of Six-Thousand Under Armour T-Shirts for the Student Section

1 Whereas the University of Cincinnati Undergraduate Student Government has the responsibility of promoting and enhancing the student experience of all undergraduate students attending the University of Cincinnati, and

2 Whereas in an effort to unite the student section and provide common identity, Student Government representatives have collaborated with leadership of the UC Athletics Department, Rally Cats, the UC Band, and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, to name the student section, “The RUCKUS”, and

3 Whereas to promote this common identity and brand, the aforementioned groups have begun the process of creating a marketing and development plan to see this through in a multi-year approach, and

4 Whereas one facet of this plan is to promote “The RUCKUS” at all UC Athletic sporting events, as we intend this to be multifunctional and long-lasting, and

5 Whereas on October 1, 2015 the University of Cincinnati Football Team plays the University of Miami, which will be featured on ESPN, and is our most anticipated contest of the season, and

6 Whereas in joint effort with the President’s Office, UC Athletics, Under Armour, Rally Cats, SAAC, and the UC Band, six-thousand “RUCKUS” branded Under Armour t-shirts will be given to all student section members at this game, and

7 Whereas a “RUCKUS” flag will also be created and presented to the student section at this game and brought in with the team at the start of every football game, and

8 Whereas the six-thousand Under Armour t-shirts cost approximately $53,700 and the 4x6’ flag and pole will cost $500;

9 Therefore be it appropriated that $2,750, including the 10% overrun of $250, be allocated from the Athletics and Spirit line item to the purchasing of the Under Armour t-shirts, Ruckus flag, and holding pole.
