OCTOBER COVERED DISH SUPPER & MEETING

DATE: Sunday, October 25, 2009 – ** DATE CHANGE **

TIME: 5:00 p.m.

LOCATION: Fairmount Presbyterian Church Community House 247 Old Turnpike Road, Fairmount

PROGRAM: “Antique Toys & Tools presented by Ken Vliet

The speaker at our OCTOBER covered dish gathering will be our own Ken Vliet. Ken will speak about collecting antique toys and tools. He will also provide comments on the splendid old collection of toys donated to the Society by the Waldron sisters many years ago. Both tools and toys will be extensively displayed. Ken is renown in antiquing circles for his keen knowledge of these subjects. You will be fascinated by the utility of some mystery tools.

There will be a business meeting during which slips of paper will be distributed. The By-laws indicate that there is to be an election of officers each year. You will be asked to list three names of people to serve on the Nominating Committee. They will nominate names for the offices of President and Secretary for the years 2010-2011 at the January 17, 2010 Annual Meeting.

The dinner always proves to be a highlight of the season.

The Society will provide the main courses of ham and lasagna and the beverages. Call Lyn Rahenkamp (908-236-2892) to indicate your choice of covered dish (salad, casserole or dessert) which you will bring.

THE ART SHOW 2009 – A SUCCESS

The Historical Society Art Show, co-Chaired by Alice Walters and Kathy Halsey, is currently in full swing! The show, which began with an Artist Preview on October 6, has seen hundreds of visitors over the past 3 days. Many thanks to all our volunteers who hang the show, receive the artwork, man the sales and admissions tables, and provide the beautiful spread for our famous Preview night!
