Holt Spanish Level 2. 3. A three-ring notebook or a spiral notebook for Spanish only. 4. Supplies for notes, number # 2 pencils, blue or black pen, markers, glue and scissors. 5. English / Spanish dictionary 6. One pocket folder to keep all returned assignments

GRADING POLICY

1. Grades are assigned on the basis of accumulation of points. Points are assigned to a student's work on the following basis: Item Points per item Final Examination 150-200 Chapter Exams (6 per semester) 50 Projects (about one per chapter) 20-50 Notebook 30-40 Class work (collected randomly) 10-20 Quizzes (at least two per chapter) 10-20 Homework 5-15 Workbook Homework (one page) 5

2. The total possible points at the end of each marking period or semester will be used to assign letter grades according to the following scale:

It is the student’s responsibility to obtain and make up any work missed due to an excused absence (illness, medical appointment, funeral, etc.) Students can make up missed tests in the mornings or after school. 4. No credit will be given for late homework or missed exams due to unexcused absences. It is the student’s responsibility to check the homework board or BMHS web site daily in where assignments are written. 5. Student athletes and those involved in various extra-curricular activities (all planned absences) must be cleared prior to the day of the event. 6. All work must be written in blue or black ink. No pencil or work in red ink will be accepted. 7. No credit will be given for assignments that are completed with computer based translation programs. This is considered an infraction of the cheating policy outlined in the Parent / Student handbook. 8. The Spanish Notebook will be collected at the end of each semester. Make sure to have your homework, grammar notes, and class work. In addition, you must have organization, logical sequence, and neatness. 9. If the student does not have a scantron on the day of the test and delays the testing process, he/she will be deducted five points of the test score. 10. If the student is not prepared for class (for example, missing the textbook, notebook, workbook, homework, and/or has to go to their locker during class to get their materials), he/she will have two points deducted from the homework assignment.

CLASSROOM DISCIPLINE 1. Students will follow all rules established in the Parent/Students handbook. 2. A student is considered tardy when not seated in the assigned seat with all materials prepared for class at the sound of the tardy bell. 3. No eating, drinking, chewing gum or personal grooming in class. 4. High standards of Christian behavior are expected from each student. Courtesy will be exhibited to the teacher and fellow students at all times. 5. Any infractions of the school rules and/or class rules and regulations will result in a Violation. REWARDS

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is a continuation of Spanish 1 with continued development of vocabulary, sentence construction, verb tenses and usage. Basic knowledge of the language achieved permits the students to go on the finer points of style and syntax. The student is exposed to the Spanish speaking countries. EXPRÉSATE WORKBOOK POLICY

The main objective of the Spanish workbook is to reinforce the material learned in class. Students receive points for work they do when they complete the assigned pages. The following rules and guidelines will facilitate the use and grading of your workbook. 1. Write your name on all edges outside of the workbook with the marker provided by your teacher. 2. Write your name on every front page with blue or black ink. 3. Do not tear off pages. 4. Do not do the work or answer the questions in separate paper. 5. Under no circumstances, a student should be in possession of another student’s workbook. This will be considered CHEATING and will result in a REFERRAL.
