Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band; With A Little Help From My Friends; Baby, You're A Rich Man; Only A Northern Song; All You Need Is Love; When I'm Sixty-Four; Nowhere Man; It's All Too Much When Yellow Submarine was first released in January 1969, coinciding with the animated Cartoon film, the only Beatles tracks were on side one. There were just six of them - 'Yellow Submarine', 'Only A Northern Song', 'All Together Now', 'Hey Bulldog', 'It's All Too Much' and 'All You Need Is Love' - and only four of them were new. Side two was devoted entirely to George Martin's musical score for the movie. Thirty years later it was decided to restore the film, digitalising the soundtrack in the process, and the songtrack album is a result of that remastering. Released in 1999, it was the first collection of Beatles songs to get a digital remix, but more significantly it dispensed with the film score that had appeared on side two and included instead most of the other songs featured in the film that hadn't appeared on the earlier LP. -

LSUG July 29Th 2012
Next Sunday Special Guest Monkee Micky Dolenz! PLAYLIST JULY 29th, 2012 HOUR 1 George Harrison – Bangla Desh George wrote the song in “ten minutes,” for his friend, Ravi Shankar’s war-torn homeland. While in LA working on the soundtrack for the Raga film, Ravi informed George of the atrocities occurring in his native India. Leon Russell, who played keyboards on the session, contributed the idea for the “story” introduction to the song. The song included George, Eric Clapton, Ringo, Bobby Keys, Billy Preston and Leon Russell. Although the lineup is disputed by Jim Horn, who recalls that himself, George, Leon Russell, Klaus Voorman and Jim Keltner were present. voice break The Beatles - I Should Have Known Better - A Hard Day’s Night (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: John Following their triumphant visit to America The Beatles were thrust back to work. On February 25, 1964 they dove into new songs slated for their film. On this day they recorded “You Can’t Do That” and began work on Paul’s “And I Love Her” and John’s “I Should Have Known Better.” In the film “I Should Have Known Better” was performed in the train compartment scene, which in reality was the interior of a van with crew members rocking the van to fake the train in motion. Used as the flip side of the U.S. “A Hard Day’s Night” single. Paul’s “Things We Said Today” was the UK b-side. Recorded Feb. 25-26, 1964. On U.S. album: A Hard Day’s Night - United Artists LP Hey Jude - Apple LP (1970) The Beatles - I’m Happy Just To Dance With You - A Hard Day’s Night (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: George Written by John and Paul specifically to give George a song in the movie “A Hard Day’s Night.” Completed in four takes on March 1, 1964, with filming slated to begin the next day. -
The Continuing Story of Bungallo Bill
The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill Hey Jude, I Want To Tell You, In My Life, it seems like only Yesterday I had a Ticket To Ride, to go on a Magical Mystery Tour to find out what Your Mother Should Know about the restaurant business. I’m Down, I said, There’s A Place, Don’t Pass Me By, and thought Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, Why Don’t We Do It In The Road? Abbey Road, on Blue Jay Way? I Will, I said, knowing I’d be Fixing A Hole (actually many holes) with Maxwell’s Silver Hammer. For No One gave me The Word or would Tell Me Why, or Ask Me Why, I got No Reply. I Should Have Known Better. In the beginning, it was Misery and A Hard Day’s Night, and I had Yer Blues. Bankers said Don’t Bother Me for Money (That’s What I Want) to pay the Taxman. Not A Second Time or Any Time At All! I wanted to Cry Baby Cry, Because, they said, Honey Don’t, Slow Down, You Can’t Do That, and don’t Get Back to us! But Tomorrow Never Knows. I said Think For Yourself, Act Naturally and We Can Work It Out if we just Come Together. I’ve Got a Feeling about the Revolution and I just can’t Let It Be. Because, Across the Universe, people would want to know Something about What You’re Doing at Abbey Road, where Rock And Roll Music plays Eight Days a Week, people Twist and Shout, do the Savoy Truffle, and are Here, There, And Everywhere. -

Harrisongs 2012
1 95.5 KLOS PLAYLIST DEC. 2ND 1 2 9AM THREE HOURS OF GEORGE HARRISONGS George Harrison – Isn’t It A Pity (version one) - All Things Must Pass ‘70 Simple, effective, majestic – this track is one of the most magnificent tunes of George’s solo career. First composed during the “Let It Be” sessions, it was recorded on June 2nd, 1970. Some considered this to be a parody of “Hey Jude,” with it’s length and similar sounding backing chorus – but the song is anything but a parody – but another piece of firm evidence of George’s power as a master songwriter. 9.10 BREAK 2 3 The Beatles - Blue Jay Way - Magical Mystery Tour (EP) (Harrison) Lead vocal: George Written by George Harrison on August 1, 1967 while vacationing in a rented house in the Hollywood Hills above Los Angeles. The story is essentially the same as the lyrics imply. On a foggy night in L.A., George sat at his rented house waiting for friends to arrive, but the maze of thin and winding streets and the thick fog rolling in got the best of them and they became lost. George: “I’d rented a house in Los Angeles on – Blue Jay Way, and I’d arrived there from England. I was waiting around for Derek and Joan Taylor who were then living in L.A. I was very tired after the flight and the time change and I stared writing, playing a little electric organ that was in the house. It had gotten foggy and they couldn’t find the house for some time. -
