Reinventing EPCMS: Welcome to the reinvented El Paso County Medical Society. It’s been a lot of work, and we’re excited about our new direction. We hope that you’ll join our bold vision to make Colorado Springs the best place in America to practice medicine and receive medical care by 2020.

There are a number of ways we’ll go about that, two of which I’m excited to tell you about. EPCMS Practice Renewal Services: Our specialists, all practice managers themselves, will work alongside you in navigating changes in health care. First, we’ll perform a top-to-bottom analysis of your practice. We’ll then customize programs and train your staff, so you can run your practice. With services like OSHA & HIPAA compliance, billing, coding & collections, assessing & structuring your staff, and many other services, our hassle-free approach is a force multiplier. We have a waiting list already, so if you’re interested please let us know so we can schedule you. EPCMS Credentialing & Provider Enrollment: We have expanded our credentials verification service to offer insurance panel credentialing and provider enrollment. This service has exploded! We now have clients as far away as North Carolina! We can take this cumbersome process off your to-do list so you can run your practice. This is just phase one of a four phase process to remake EPCMS into your practice’s one-stop shop for all your nonclinical needs. Over the next two years we plan to roll out more offerings. Services we’re considering include contract negotiation, EHR product & utilization support, launching a new practice, legal, finance & accounting, and human resources.

JANUARY 2016-- PIKES PEAK PAHCOM NEWSLETTER Page 2 This is an exciting time for our community and for EPCMS, and these are the first of many enhancements to come. Working together we can achieve this. Let’s get to work… Mike Ware, Chief Executive Officer, El Paso County Medical Society [email protected]; 1465 Kelly Johnson Blvd. #130; Colorado Springs, CO 80920; (719) 591-2424 | Fax (719) 591-5649

VALUE-BASED PAYMENT MODIFIER - VBPM (MEDICARE): A program that includes a modified payment under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule based on Quality and Cost Performance. If your practice is currently not participating in the PQRS Program, now might be a good the time to start or more negative Medicare adjustments in the coming years. The Value-Based Payment Modifier which is starting to phase in first large practices and all providers by 2017. The data from 2015 PQRS is what will be used by CMS for calculating part of the 2017 VBPM, 2016 composite scores for practices/providers. There can be a positive adjustment, stay neutral or receive a negative adjustment; separate from PQRS penalties and EHR penalties or incentives. Also, start having your providers’ document chronic conditions, as this will help in the goal of providing "triple aim healthcare," the new pathway of healthcare. It is all about the changes forthcoming in reimbursement!! The Executive Committee continues its search for a speaker for Value-Based Payment Modifier but here are some free resources through CMS and Navicure Clearinghouse. http://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Medicare-Fee-for-Service-Payment/PhysicianFeedbackProgram/index.html http://www.navicure.com/ Navicure Site: Learn from us, scroll to free webinar on Value-Based Payment Modifier
