Ideas for Presentation Projects

Proposals are due on the day of your Midterm Interview

Group Project for Business/Community Scenarios (Chose from one of the following:

1. Your company has just merged with an overseas partner. Your boss has charged you and your co-workers to come up with some ways to facilitate successful working transitions of your department with your overseas counterpart.

2. Your Parent/Teacher group of your children's school has been asked to participate in hosting a visiting international student group, which is the same grade/age level as your children. You will be host families for 6 months. Design an orientation program for the host families and the guests.

3. Your department at work has been experiencing interpersonal conflict among the staff. Employees are being asked to come up with some solutions to create a less hostile working environment and one that is more productive and open. Design a training program.

4. Your group is a consulting firm that specializes in interpersonal communications and conflict resolution issues. A church group has asked you for your service to provide training for interracial couples preparing for marriage.

5. Your diverse neighborhood has been caught up in gang related issues and activities by the young adolescents that live in the area. The local police has asked the community for help. Design a program that will help address these issues.

6. Your college campus has experienced conflict between several cultural and religion based organizations. Design a program that will help address these issues.

7. Your group is a consulting group who has been hired by the INS (Immigration and Naturalization Services) to create a test bank of cultural questions to add to the U.S. citizenship exam.

Proposals should be no longer than one page. 3

Should include:  Topic/subject  Outline  Names of Team members if applicable  List of resources (may include interviews, use of internet resources limited to two, the rest should be from approved (by me) books, journals, magazines, films etc.)

The final product should include: 1. Written report (5-6 pages) 2. Oral presentation with Q & A  10 – 15 minutes for individual presentation  20-25 minutes for dual or team presentation

Note: You may opt out of a presentation if your schedule gets too hectic but proposals will not be accepted after March 3 and you will forfeit earning 50 points!

Sign up times for presentations will be scheduled the week of March 3.
