Physical and Chemical Changes Game/Comic Project (50 pts.)
Individually, you should create EITHER a game or a comic/story that includes the following number of BOTH physical and chemical changes: (1 more than your phase for each.) Phase 1= 2 Physical changes, 2 Chemical Changes + multiple part change* Phase 2= 3 Physical changes, 3 Chemical Changes+ multiple part change* Phase 3= 4 Physical changes, 4 Chemical Changes+ multiple part change*
* Each project should include AT LEAST ONE additional change that has BOTH physical and chemical parts to it. (A multiple part change—or some action that involves both types of changes as part of what happens to it.)
Each Physical and Chemical changes must be identified and explained: A. Item(s)/substance(s) BEFORE the change B. Item(s)/substance(s) AFTER the change C. Type of change—i.e. WHY is it physical or chemical?
The project should include AT LEAST the number of visuals of the changes equal to your phase: (Phase 1= 1 visual, Phase 2=2 visuals, Phase 3= 3 visuals). These should show EITHER the changes OR the reactant/product before or after the reactions.
For the game, it should include questions as to whether a particular change is physical or chemical, and provide the correct answers in a key. IT should NOT be a crossword or word search type game.
For the comic, an explanation of the changes illustrated or discussed in the comic/story should be included that gives the information listed above about EACH change in the comic/story.
EXCHANGE—Students MUST exchange their game/comic with another student, providing feedback in terms of commendations (what was done well) and recommendations (what could be improved.) The number required is by phase: (Phase 1= 1 commendation, 1 recommendation; Phase 2= 2 commendations, 2 recommendations; Phase 3= 3 commendations, 3 recommendations). These should be written and included with the final project.
The assignment will be 50 points and graded according to the Physical-Chemical Changes Project Rubric.
