KNIGHTS’CODE OF CHIVALRY

Here are the vows of Knighthood:

1) Fear God and defend His church

2) Serve and obey the King (=Lord)

3) Protect the weak and defenseless

4) Help widows and orphans

5) Live by honor and for glory

6) Despise money

7) Fight for the good of all

8) Guard the honor of other knights

9) Speak the truth

10) Respect the honor of women

11) Never refuse a challenge

12) Be brave (=courageous)

5) Read the text “L’apprentissage du chevalier”… L’apprentissage du chevalier Il commence des l’enfance. En quittant le domaine familial, le futur chevalier connait les bases de l’équitation et du combat. Ensuite, valet chez un parent ou chez un suzerain, il apprend l’entretien des armes et le service de son seigneur, tout en continuant son entrainement au combat. Puis, il participe aux tournois et aux batailles et accède à l’état d’écuyer. Enfin, si son courage est irréprochable, sons sens chevaleresque sans défaut et s’il a les moyens de s’équiper (chevaux, armes, armures), il a l’honneur d’être adoubé.
