Believe

You believe- parents believe- communities believe and we believe- believe in the rights of the child. The rights of the child to have a positive, stimulating, child care environment where trained early childhood educators provide warm, caring, responsive care. The rights of parents to have an accessible, affordable, high quality, dependable child care system. The rights of parents to also have access to resources and education that supports their role as parents.

Thank-you, thank you, to the branches of the Early Childhood Educators of British Columbia who work tirelessly, quickly and continue to remain focused formulating town hall meetings, media interviews, distributing and signing of petitions, sharing information and educating parents and the general public of the ongoing instability and longevity of quality and accessible child care in our province.

You are the ones who are the foundation of the organization, who uphold the belief of the rights of the child to have a rich and meaningful child care experience. You are the foundation that upholds the belief of the rights of the parent to have affordable, accessible high quality child care.

Thank you to our partners, the Coalition of Childcare Advocates and the BCGEU (British Columbia Government Employees Union), The Federation of Labour and Cupe for your focused work and unconditional support in organizing the rally and ensuring the multitude of tasks were accomplished. We are very grateful and warmed by the knowledge that together we can make a much stronger impact than any individual or organization working alone.

Thank you to all of the communities throughout British Columbia who step forward and demonstrate their support by attending rallies, town hall meetings and signing petitions.

The Rallies and actions around the province throughout February are a testament to the power of the voices of citizens all throughout British Columbia…. A testament of strength and passion in supporting the rights of parents and children to have resources, experiences and opportunities that promote positive relationships in early childhood available to them.

We take this opportunity to thank all of the parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, early childhood educators and family care providers for standing together as one childcare community and we encourage you to keep the momentum up.

We are moving forward - because you believe!
