Six-night Itinerary

Day 1:

7:30-9:00pm: Evening Naturalist/Photography Walk

Day 2:

7:30am: Enjoy breakfast in our Artisan Café

9:00am-12:00pm: GUIDED WALKING TOUR: Take an interpretive, guided walk in the Denali area with a naturalist guide who will point out the landmarks and talk about the amazing geology and glacial history of this part of the world. Walk through boreal forests and discover how plants and animals have adapted to the extreme sub-arctic environment. The pace is usually about one mile per hour, as there are frequent stops. The northern land is wild and natural and one needn't walk far to experience it. Walk in the footsteps of animals, and gain a new appreciation for this far north landscape. Estimated time of hike: 3 hours

Afternoon: Leisurely drive into the Park and enjoy a picnic lunch at the Savage River

6:00pm: Tonglen’s Artisan Bistro for drinks and appetizers

6:30pm: Dine at Tonglen’s Artisan Bistro or area restaurant

Evening at Tonglen: Evening performance/program, or Yoga Class as scheduled or relax by the campfire to end your day.

Day 3: Early AM: Breakfast in our Artisan Café

Morning Departure: TUNDRA WILDERNESS TOUR

Traveling 53 miles into the park to the Toklat River rest area, the Tundra Wilderness Tour offers a wonderful diversity for visitors. Incredible scenery, a narrated history of the park road and some of the best opportunities to view the park’s wildlife inhabitants await you on this tour. The tour allows plenty of opportunity to look for Dall sheep, moose, caribou, wolves and grizzly bears. On days when Denali (Mt. McKinley) is visible, it may be possible to travel to Stony Hill Overlook (another eight miles down the road) and view the entire mountain from base to summit. A small snack and hot beverage are offered on this Alaska land tour. We suggest you pre-book a TO-GO lunch for the trip, as there are no concessions available in the wilderness of Denali National Park.

The morning tour departs between 5:00 AM and 9:00 AM. The afternoon tour departs between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM, Please note: Exact departure times are not guaranteed and are based on availability - it is possible to be ticketed for any time during the departure windows.

 6-8 hour tour; 53 miles one-way into the park  Tour is on comfortable, upgraded coaches  Tour stops approximately every 90 minutes for a restroom break  Wheelchair accessible buses are available on request when you make your reservation, and all stops are wheelchair accessible  Suggested items to bring: warm clothes, raingear, camera and film or memory card, binoculars and personal medication as necessary  Smoking or consumption of alcoholic beverages is not permitted on tour buses  Advance reservations are highly recommended

Day 4:

When you wake: Breakfast in our Artisan Café

Noon: SCENIC WLDERNESS RAFT TRIP: Although this trip will begin at McKinley Village in the midst of local lodges, your river raft will drift slowly away and leave only a quiet encounter with Denali’s wilderness. Imagine yourself floating in solitude along the boundaries of Denali National Park, Alaska on this 2 Hour oar raft trip! Enjoy the Alaskan splendor as we view the Yanert Fork River merging with the waters of the Nenana River below the Musher's Monument, a natural rock formation distinctly resembling a musher driving a sled and team of dogs. While passing by Mount Fellows and Pyramid Mountain, watch for a variety of wildlife and enjoy class II and mild class III whitewater rapids. Families with small children and those wanting a bit less splash will discover the joys of rafting. *Plan to join us for 3 to 3 1/2 hours

Day 5:

EXPLORE THE PARK ENTRANCE AREA: Take a leisurely day to explore the Denali Park Visitor Center and the Murie Science and Learning Center. Enjoy a Ranger-lead program.

Interested in Shopping? Take a look around “Glitter Gulch” on the George Parks Hwy just one mile north of the entrance to Denali Park

Noon: PEAK EXPERIENCE FLIGHT SEEING TOUR: Fly in Denali for a thrilling and inspiring flight around Mount McKinley. Soar amongst the jagged peaks of the Alaska Range on a stunning 200-mile flight through Denali National Park to get within 1/2 mile of McKinley. Weather permitting, this flight will circle Mount McKinley to see every spectacular corner of the highest mountain in North America. From takeoff to landing, the breathtaking views will have you on the edge of your seat. The 60-70 minute flight departs from our private airstrip on the eastern edge of Denali National Park, and you'll enjoy the comfort and views from your window seat on our twin-engine plane. You'll see braided rivers, wildly colorful ridgelines and velvety tundra-covered valleys as you climb towards pristine snow-covered peaks and tumbling icefalls en route to the Mountain. As you near Mount McKinley, you will thread between snowy alpine peaks, such as Mount Mather, Silverthrone and Mount Huntington. You'll be flying at an optimal altitude that will give you the best perspective of the sheer size of the mountains of the Denali Massif.

Noon: On your drive south to Talkeetna or Anchorage, stop in and experience Dog Gone It Tours in Cantwell. Your adventure will bring you to one of the oldest remaining homesteads in Denali. Visit a competitive racing sled dog operation, hold puppies, witness sled dogs in action and learn what it is like to live an Alaskan lifestyle with some of the world’s greatest athletes
