Position Title: Accountant I Reports to: Controller Location: 2515 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA Division: Finance and Operations Classification: Supervises: N/A General Functions: Responsible for duties & projects assigned by the Controller. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Research and respond to staff questions regarding budgets and financial data in the general ledger. 2. Work closely with the auditors selected to perform an annual audit and prepare all necessary work papers, as assigned by the Controller. 3. Set up and maintain Accounts Receivable for building tenants and miscellaneous deposit. 4. Prepare and key in monthly journal entries accurately and timely. 5 Accounting for, and reporting on fiscal sponsorships and other partnerships as they arise. 6. Under the direction of the Accounting Database Manager, verify and key campaign pledges and designations into the fundraising database. 7. Prepare miscellaneous cash deposits. 8. Reconcile bank accounts monthly. 9. Upload daily accounts receivable deposits into fundraising database. 10. Prepare annual tax return schedule of payments to agencies, and other tax return schedules as assigned by the Controller. 11. Perform other tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS 1. College degree required. 2. Accounting major preferred. Equivalent accounting work experience in combination with another 4 year degree may be sufficient for the right candidate. 3. Computer experience, and intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel. 4. Demonstrated ability to work well with others and be a team player. 5. Self-motivated and able to produce a sufficient quality and quantity of work and adhere to deadlines. 6. Have no outside interests that may conflict with the organization's goals and objectives and not explicitly approved by the Chief Financial Officer. 7. Unquestioned confidentiality with sensitive financial and personnel matters and issues.
